Default Mosquito truck just drove down my street...

As usual they cruse down the road spraying out the back. Does it really help that much?
As I watch...it seems like it may get to a few area's surrounding the street but I'm skeptical
about it reaching very far from the area it was sprayed.

We live right on the border of our county. Our county sprays our road for mosquitoes, while the neighboring county does not spray at all. We have few mosquitoes. Go about 1/4 mile into the next county and you'll be eaten alive.

Usually the trucks and helicopters (Hueys) are spraying larvacide around here. They used airplanes (DC3s) for adulticide (malathion or baytex) before the environmentalists shut them down. They sprayed it right on/in the exhaust manifolds and the resulting smoke drifted down. They used to fly 4 planes in formation 40-50 feet apart at around 200 feet, maybe less. You could see the guys in the cockpit pretty clearly. It was exciting when they went over but you better run inside before the smoke came down. I think they still have the planes but I don't see or hear them much these days. .

They spray the standing water in ditches and fog at night....used to leave a case of beer on the steps on fogging night, he would pull into the driveway and drink a couple and eat a sandwich for 30 mins. . it helped.....I have a hand fogger I use and it also helps.

Pinellas county uses trucks. I remember hearing them coming around the neighborhood at night as long as 60 years ago. The county actually encourages us to let them know if we need spraying. It does work...to a degree. We did have aerial spraying one year but that was for a citrus plague, not mosquitos.
