I read what happened....being that you know him and his capabilities....I'd be concerned also...foolish accidents or not paying attention can happen...my left index finger is 90% numb....loading the boat on a hill the trailer slip crushing my finger....I was all alone...took me an hour to get free.

Once again very sorry for your lost and prayers for the family.

Lord!!! Glad it did not!!! Thank You for the Prayers....How does the parking brake work on Tractors and Lo-Boys? Truck was supposed to have been on an incline and He was doing something with the Air Lines. One thing I heard, only speculation at this point though..Shit happens even to the most experienced,I know. Even if You have done something a 1000 times.Sometimes the Habit makes You complacent or one small thing happens out of the Norm and it bites You!! He was literally crushed to death..

brakes will lock up when air pressure is reduced/lost (in properly functioning brakes, that is)

That article/report is very confusing.

Being a Low Boy,I was wondering if He may have been hooking up the Air Lines after loading the Skid Steer and the Brakes released??? The Tractor ran Him over. Like I said, all speculation at this time...Still can't understand why they have it on Crime Stoppers, maybe looking for a Witness? Family does not know either. There are TV news articles if You Google...His Name and North Carolina.

Drum brakes don't have a lot of stopping power in reverse direction. Had a concrete truck on my site when pouring foundation parked on a downslope and even with brakes set, it started to roll back. Driver said "it happens". Chocked the wheels. Could have gotten ugly.

What?? Explain the mechanics of that to me. The way drum brakes work (and disks for that matter) shouldn't make one damn bit of difference which direction the wheels are turning. Not to be too abrasive, but have you ever done a brake job on...anything? Much less a medium or heavy duty rig with air brakes? Concrete truck drivers are usually the dumbest ones out there, sounds like his truck was a piece of shit.

I don't know truck air brakes well, but I do know this:

Drum brake shoes are not symmetrical. Front one is different from back one. This way in fwd, the force on the shoe adds to braking force. In reverse the opposite is true.

Try it on a rear drum pickup. Try parking brake nose down. Try it again nose up. You will sense the difference. Much better braking fwd.

Wow! You may want to look up self energizing brakes before you look like a fool, again.

for what its worth the news reports are never right

I had some guys I know here a couple weeks ago that were involved in two murders, two survivors and the shooter committed suicide, almost nothing was reported correctly in the news
