Default Glacier Natl pulls signs saying glaciers gone by 2020

Under pressure from global warmists, Glacier National Park had posted signs saying to be sure to photo the glaciers, they would be gone by 2020. Now, they have quietly removed them.

Of course they did. They're part of the executive branch of the Fed gov't, and those signs didn't align with the political messaging being pushed out. It's all about control of info . . . and with 3 million annual visitors to GNP, it probably made some politician(s) annoyed.

Officials sought to excise the State Department’s comments on climate science because they did not mesh with the administration’s stance

Those signs were just stating "inconvenient facts"

Damn "global warmists", they take the fun (and profit) out of everything. Glad the park service finally amended their wicked ways and repudiated all that deep dark state pressure.

Lysander Spooner University - a non-accredited and basically non-existent "school" - just a soapbox for a shill named Roger Roots. If you're attempting to make a point, at least do it with a modicum of thoughtfulness. 3 minutes I can't get back...

Those signs were based on the observation prior to 2010 that glaciers were shrinking more quickly than a computer model predicted they would,” USGS said. “Subsequently, larger than average snowfall over several winters slowed down that retreat rate and the 2020 date used in the NPS display does not apply anymore.”
now says: “When they completely disappear, however, will depend on how and when we act.”

Default Yea Right

If we were really damaging the planet beyond anything that has happened in the last 4000 years the Grays would have returned in force and stopped us.

If they do come back to give us direction they will start in China and India.

So they removed them because they were inaccurate...

2020 is 6 months away. So you think it is just a political agenda that they took the signs down, not just being unable to deny what is obviously staring them in the face? What about if they're still there in September? December? Are they going to tell people the glaciers are going to go poof on New Years Eve? What happens when they don't. Cross out the zero and add a 1 and reset the doomsday clock?

Nothing political about taking the signs down. Putting them up on the other hand...

I’m not worried about the glaciers melting. The same “scientists” warned us of an impending ice age in the 1970’s.

Perhaps they were removed because they were untrue.

Good, I don't give a f@#k about the future of this planet one way or the other either. I won't be around to see it.

I honestly wonder if people can still read:

Glaciers Appear to be Growing, not Melting in Recent Years

By Roger I. Roots, J.D., Ph.D.,

Founder, Lysander Spooner University

May 30, 2019. St. Mary, Montana. Officials at Glacier National Park (GNP) have begun quietly removing and altering signs and government literature which told visitors that the Park’s glaciers were all expected to disappear by either 2020 or 2030.
In recent years the National Park Service prominently featured brochures, signs and films which boldly proclaimed that all glaciers at GNP were melting away rapidly. But now officials at GNP seem to be scrambling to hide or replace their previous hysterical claims while avoiding any notice to the public that the claims were inaccurate. Teams from Lysander Spooner University visiting the Park each September have noted that GNP’s most famous glaciers such as the Grinnell Glacier and the Jackson Glacier appear to have been growing—not shrinking—since about 2010. (The Jackson Glacier—easily seen from the Going-To-The-Sun Highway—may have grown as much as 25% or more over the past decade.)

The inconvenient fact is that the glacier is still there.

Thanks for letting us know. We will lay some flowers on the glacier after you are gone.

Hmm. Address for Lysander Spooner University resolves to a single building on a dirt road and is also listed as the address for R. Roots law firm. Website for said "university" is hosted by wordpress and offers no legitimate classes.

"Teams for Lysander Sponder University" my ass. Have you ever heard of this "university" or met any graduates? I haven't.

I notice that there is no data published nor supporting said 25% increase in Jackson Glacier. You're going to believe a crappy-ass website posted by a dude who (as far as I can tell) has no scientific background (is actually a lawyer), no scientific publications to his name, and most likely a fake university?

Or maybe you could look at actual data from the USGS showing that Jackson Glacier's area has decreased 76% from 1850 to 2015. Grinnell Glacier's area decreased 71%. Is that growing?
https://www.usgs.gov/data-tools/area...-fnf-including

At least 3 of the 37 named glaciers at GNP are 90%+ decreased and on average 68% decreased. I'd say some of those signs were pretty accurate - between 2020 and 2030. Not to mention that in the 1800s, there were likely close to 150 glaciers large enough to be named and we're now down to 37.

But hey, nothing to see here. Look, I made a snowball! Proof the earth isn't warming.

Went there in 2016. If there is a more beautiful place in the US than there, I need to see it. Hope to go back soon, but not peak season.
