Question QUICK ADVICE!Dinner options!

My 56th NameDay was yesterday... REF: GoT
Today is, the MISSES & I anniversary, ..
I received a 'gift card" After helping a 'stranded' Tourist/fisherman/Family, here down on the beach over that CRAZY weekend..
Red Dodge Truck pulling a nice CC...
"Rick" the Husband, said He is a member here at the "Hull Truth'.. (Glad to have 'met" you & your Family, wish it could of been under better circumstances) So If your reading this.. Hello! I hope you made it home OK!
NO-ONE would give these Folks a hand..
NO mechanical "shops" open.. ( very Late afternoon on Sunday), They were headed back to Upstate, NC. from here in ILM, NC..
Replaced their Serpentine Belt that had 'shredded' itself all inside the engine compartment..
AND I do mean Shredded !
Took Me about a hour getting it undone with Wire snips etc..
Took the ' Husband' from Carolina Beach into town for a "new one".. Left the Family "Wife & young 3 Kids' w/vehicle & boat, at the beach..
Some reason, His "Bank Card" didn't 'work' Plus there were no 'local' ATM's here that would accept His card.. He was over His "Limit" for Spending per day? or something like that?
Ended up spending 20.00+ out of My own pocket, to get Rick a new belt.
Installed belt..
Now Battery is dead AF..
Jump Him off..
Extremely & Eternally Happy Said pleasantries, As He headed off with His Family I-40 WEST..
All He 'compensated', ( NO I didn't ask) giving Me a 'gift Card" 25.00 (Plus My FEW Coppers I have), to one of the three..
Bone Fish Grille
OutBack Steak house
Carrabbas Italian Grille
Misses doesn't know I have this and I wish too surprise Her..
I've not been too ANY of these..
What does the opinion of the "Hull Truth" Brain Trust here say?

Carrabbas or Outback for me! I rarely eat seafood in restaurants.

Simple.........Do you want to have steak, pasta, or seafood?

Personally, I've never had a good steak at Outback. Heard Bone Fish was decent, but never been.

I would choose Carrabba's. Only been there a handful of times, but the food was always decent and they had a surprisingly good steak.

ALL chain food. Basically pick from what you like....Steak, Italian, or fish. If you go for Outback, get the Bloomin Onion for an appy....Quite tasty.

What are Coppers? I thought it would come out, but I'm tired of waiting.

Not to be the resident cynic, but before sitting down to eat, you should call and verify that the GC is still usable. Stranger things have happened...

A meal for two at any of these restaurants will likely be $40+, so plan accordingly. None of the three restaurants are bad; your experience will largely depend on the quality of the management at the particular restaurant.

Also: GREAT JOB helping a stranded fellow traveler! I hope that karma rewards you well for your kindness and efforts!

Ok I'm going to say it....all of that work and hassle for $25???

That job at a dealership or garage would have cost him a couple of hundred. Plus a tow, plus hotel for the night, plus extra meals, etc! Then ''stick'' you with a gift card that you are going to have to kick in on and at mediocre restaurants to boot. Bad form in my opinion.

You saved his ass and now it's going to cost you to go out and use the gift card..I think a better jesture would have been if they had sent you some home baked goods or a gift basket of wine or something.

Sorry for being so harsh but that aint right!

Being the pessimist that I am, I'd also advice checking to balance on the gift card before using it.

If price is an issue, Outback. For June only, you can get the Aussie Steakhouse. Soup or salad, entree w/ 2 sides, and desert for $14.99.

Bone Fish Grille in ilm, nc gets good reviews but you're looking at $20+ for entrees.

Never been to Carabbas so no input.

Find a good local restaurant. Post your location and maybe someone can give you a recommendation.

That's what I thought about the coppers.

FYI, around here, the Carrabbas has half priced appetizers during happy hour everyday.

Do you all even read the OP's thread or just start typing?
He HAS A GIFT CARD that can be redeemed at SPECIFIC restaurants.

Out of the options posted, sir. I would thumbs up the Outback. Mmmmmm that blooming onion.... Furthermore, for $25, Outback will get you two a meal ( you'll have to pony up another $20 or so....).
Lastly, AMAZING humanity you displayed helping that stranded family. Thumbs up!

If money is tight, please check the gift card balance before showing up at the restaurant.

Personally, if things are tight, I would order from Carrabbas to go, get a cheap bottle of red wine, and enjoy your night with the Mrs. at home.

The wine can be had for less than $8, you won't need to tip as much on the "to go" order, and pasta stays good on the ride home much better than seafood or bad sirloin.

P.S. Kudos for helping out a stranger in need. Things will come back around.

If you're trying to save some cash I'd skip Bonefish.

Outback is chain steak, but for the money you spend the food isn't bad. I've had $17 outback steaks cooked right that were better than $85 steaks cooked badly. Your mileage may vary of course.

Carrabas is chain italian, reasonable selection of pasta / chicken / handful of steak dishes. Their slogan should be "we're better than olive garden."

Bonefish is chain seafoodish? IMO it tries to be a bit fancier than both of those and I believe the prices match. Would be my third choice on the list.

Pretty sure you can find coupons (and menus) for any of the 3 online as well.

It took me a while to figure out the situation, I thought the guy mailed you a $25 gift card which would be a kick in the teeth after everything you did for him. Sounds like he had the GC in his wallet and gave it to you on the spot. In that case, good on you for helping a stranger and sounds like he gave you what he had handy, even if that was a bit light compared to your effort... but as above - call in advance and verify that gift card is still good and check the balance. Even if it was done with sincere intent on his part, entirely possible that it is expired.

I went to a Bonefish once, it won’t happen again.
