Default Culture of sex

First off, let me start by saying that I can appreciate the female form as much as the next guy. However, at what point is enough, enough? It just seems like everything online, in the media, and basically in our culture is geared towards sex. You go to NY Post website, there's a video of a monkey pulling down a woman's top. Bunch of news sites (including NY Post) have celebrities in their thong bikinis on vacation. TheChive.com, which used to be a place to take a break and get a laugh, with a couple sprinklings of some nice looking skin, is now like 50% borderline softcore porn. This is probably more a factor of my friends, but on social media, same thing: Chicks in skimpy outfits, butt shots on the beach, etc. TV is racier than I've ever seen before. Just to be clear, we're talking CABLE TV, normal broadcast. Showtime and HBO are one thing, but we're seeing more skin than ever on regular broadcast packages (for lack of a better term).

I kind of grew up during the time of exploding social media and us becoming an "e-world" so I've seen this somewhat evolve. I was 16-17 during the days of Myspace and Facebook's introduction. It just seems like everything has gravitated purely to sex.

Keep in mind, the fiance' (absolutely no pics) and I are not prudes. She has a preference in style of swimwear and is an attractive girl. She doesn't showcase it online though. I don't walk around in button downs and khakis every day. Furthermore, I'm just thinking to myself when we hopefully have kids "Damn, I am going to need to do some serious parenting."

Has anyone else noticed this?

Beats the hell out of the typical "sex is bad" mantra of most southern religious folks. To hear half of them, they think it's for your honeymoon and procreation only.

Don't shoot the messenger....but....that's a factor of what you've been searching for on google lol.

For example, I was researching vacations for the fiance' and I and the website I was researching on kept coming up in the advertising banner lol.

The culture of sex started with the neanderthals, and will be until the end of time. I was taught if I dont like it and it is not a threat to others, move on. Bitching and whining just burns energy that could be used for positive things. To quote Lou Holtz “the definition of hypocracy is complaining about porn on your vcr”

Being from where I am, NJ, there definitely is a more "liberal" view of it. Don't get me wrong, I am perfectly accepting of a lot of it. For example, cheeky/thong bikinis on the beach are a matter of personal preference and I don't feel like anyone should be offended by that. A woman's choice of everyday outfit is her choice. Granted, she may draw the unwanted type of attention but in the end: Input = output. I guess the same could be said about men's choices but I prefer not to think about that lol.

It's just the constant bombardment of it. In the end, we all know it's about the dollar. Sex sells and everyone likes money. I feel like so many outlets, platforms, etc have sold out their true interest to that of making a buck at the expense of skin.

Yeah that's assuming you have a tape in your VCR.

Like I said, I'm not really complaining because I can just change the channel. The point is, how many channels are you changing before you find something to get away from it?

I assumed I'd take some flames for this. Which is fine. I just more or less was wondering if someone noticed the same thing.

This for the most part.........

Go read some Ezekiel in the bible, or the Songs of Solomon. You can quickly see sex is ingrained in our society deliberately. However, acceptance of public display of what used to be porn is what is undermining many many families. Which in turn leaks through to most of our cultural issues.

I know 27 years ago, I was scared shitless over having a daughter come up in this world. Can't imagine how you younger dads feel now.

Why you watching it to begin with? I don't notice what you're saying because it isn't in focus for me.
Not much sex watching the Nationals or the cooking channel.
