If you really still want to see these people, go get a very nice hotel room nearby. Then visit for just 1 day. Tell them " it's nice to see you all but there was NO way I was going to ask my pregnant wife to sleep in a bunk bed". Then casually mention they can return your $500 when they get back.
Then enjoy rest of weekend at the hotel with wifey.

Me, I'm still pissed even hearing this story and would not go and blast them all. I am too old for this bullshit and my loyalty is to my wife. Probably lose some " friends " but so what.

I think the very first response you got was the best advice so far.

Hope you and and the family have a good time, but I know if it was me, I’d be quietly pissed off about it all weekend.

American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no co-sleeping with infants preferably until one year of age, but for at least the first six months due to higher incidence of sudden infant death syndrome when infant shares the same sleeping surface as the parent. Put the kiddo in the bottom drawer of a dresser or get a pack 'n play. You're on your own for deciding whether to go or not - there's not enough information in your original post to give the right answer regarding going or staying home.

Will shutting the drawer make you ineligible for parent of the year nomination?

they call that SIDS. Every time I hear about it on the news though it a case of mommy the whale rolled over on the baby. Not quite sure why they avoid calling it what it is. Stupidity.

Wife bailed at last minute. Decided she just wanted a weekend alone and didn't owe anyone an explanation. So we left her to get caught up on sleep and relax.

Room is tiny and would have been a disaster. It was a good call. Sons having fun, I'm enjoying hanging out with the dudes and not having to worry about what the hens are doing. Currently drinking some Zaya. Didn't bother to make any comments. Not worth it. My one buddy (only single one left) I don't see often so we are getting caught up.

Yes agreed. We didn't make a habit if it but my wife definitely did that s few nights when he was really young.

The stats on new moms rolling over on their kids are almost exclusively drug users. Just a PSA.

Two things

1: from OP, you agreed with friends to rent lake house and are $500 “in”. Gotta hold up to that deal for your salt.

2: yes, if I got that call from your friend, , to answer your OP, I’d be pissed caus seem like you made it clear with your wife’s status at the beginning.

Doesnt sound like these “hens” think too much of your wife.

I know it’s in the past but IMO, only 2 things to do:
1: pay and don’t go if you got that call and let em know why(gotta do it).
2: Pay and go and put folks on the spot the agreement in the beginning on separate room. If no comply, stay 1
night and leave and be done with that “group” on any deal of that nature. Chalk it up as learning lesson.

Anyway, seems to be done. Respect for better half.

.

That's pretty out of line...I'm not really sure how, but thanks for your feedback.

Heading out early this morning, wife enjoyed a relaxing weekend. Son is worn out.

Happy wife happy life.

Agreed. I know my wife enjoys a day or two alone at home, reads a lot, catches up on chores, does a lot of nothing!

I used to plan trips to Hatteras and rent one of the large beach houses there yearly for some time... We would plan the trip sometimes 6mo or more in advance and invite friends and family. We only invited enough couples to fill the actual rooms that we had, if we had rooms with bunks or anything like that we would make that the room for the kids... Every couple would pay the same amount for their OWN room, if there was a single person who wanted a room he/ she would pay the same a couple... The kids room was free (some homes had 2 or more)... In an occasional circumstance maybe one or 2 of my friends would want to come down for a few days or the entire week but stay on one of the pullout couches or a vacant kids room when we had one available so we would often prorate this and then issue a partial refund to everyone in the house since we received the extra cash... I used to get pick of the rooms since I was the organizer and then everyone else would pick their rooms on a first come first serve basis... This system always worked pretty good, but the planning was essential and there were never any surprises with rooms and such...

It is kind of BS that they didn't do this, it would be one thing if you knew this in advance and still chose to pay the amount and go on the trip but a phone call surprise is not acceptable.... Sounds to me that they overbooked the house to knock the cost down for them all while not having enough private rooms to accommodate everyone...

As far as the "hens" are concerned it has always been my thought that most women were not built to get along with each other... The quickly surround themselves with a few allies then hunt in packs. They usually target the ones who they deem a threat. I'm pretty sure this is built into their DNA along with other traits that often drive most men insane over time... (now I will start receiving death threats and hate mail from this group, but it further points to what I am saying as fact, they are just upset for me exposing the truth )

I'm sure you were happier staying home anyways without the added drama!!!
