this was a simple breaking and entering. the girl just happened to be there! they were not there for her. not saying that makes it right, but it does tend to exaggerate the story a little.

they should be charged as an adult. you do adult crimes you get adult punishments

That's because people that did something really stupid had a high probability of being put back in their place by some random stranger. Now if you give some out of control idiot an attitude adjustment, you will get jailed and sued.

Yep, and they sure have "reclassified", and therefore stopped reporting, a lot of "illegal" acts since the 80's.

Adult crime and adult punishment. 20 years on a prison work farm and they'll come out hard working men with some discipline and self-respect. When I become king of the USA there will be a two-tier prison system: for lesser crimes there will be prison work farms that are zero net cost to society since everything they need will be produced by the prisoners that will work 12 hours a day 6 days a week; for life sentences, pedophiles and the like the other will be the equivalent of a dungeon where you make one wrong move and you're fed to the other prisoners.

For minors I would fully support holding the parents accountable for the crimes committed by their kids. At the very least make the parents accomplices.

I got a call at 3 AM from a dad complaining that my son was in his daughter's bedroom. I asked him why did she invite him in and unlock the door? Unless he broke in which he did not, he's only half the problem. The dad calmed down and asked my son to leave; the daughter was on house arrest for a couple of months.

I LIKE your idea of "self-sufficient learning centers"!
