Realizing different people have a passion for their own selection of sports cars and “P” cars are said to be second best I still visualize the owners as preppy, pale yellow sweater tied around the shoulders, khakis, on their way to the tennis court types. especially when I hear “P” car.

It cracks me up seeing how upset some folks react to how others refer to their car.

We refer to ours as “11” as in the character on Stranger Things. We actually have a little “11” action figure hanging from our mirror.

Haha.

Speaking of 911’s, the car could be a ton more fun, in my opinion, if the gearing was not so tall. I will most likely never have a chance to go 185 nor do I need to get 30 mpg’s (which she does) on the interstate, not why I bought the car.

Gear the car to top out at 145 or so versus 185 and it would be a lot more fun to drive on a daily basis. Because of the tall gearing, I rarely get a chance to really get into the power-band and actually have fun with the car where I live, which is why she is my wife’s daily driver.

I’ll keep on driving my much older, slower, less expensive, beat up, but more fun other little coupe for my daily commute.

Granted, “11” makes a great daily driver for my wife, very comfortable, and also a great “family” car for when her and I go out, run errands, go on trips, etc.

Hey, she was a dream car for me as a kid and was a (used/good deal) bucket list buy, what was I to do?

That is the proper way to pronounce it but most Porsche owners dont really care. Saying Porsch is Americanized.

Asking which is the best in that price range is asking how long is a piece of string. Are you looking for a weekend car, a daily driver, 2 seater or do you need back seats, do you want to track the car as well?

I cant see Porsche doing shorter gears for anything under the TT model, for those who daily drive it in the city I could see that becoming a bit frustrating. (I wouldnt complain but I also love driving) Would be pretty awesome if they did sell a package that contained shorter gears and top speed at around 145, I would buy it.

Then I would look for a high spec Cayman S, a GTS would be the goal even tho you wont find many in that price range but they do pop up every once in a while and sell very quickly. You can drive that car to the track, beat the hell out of it and then drive it home.

You can get a base 911 (2009-2013) 997.2 for under $40k (Even tho the IMS failure is rare in the 997.1, I would still go with the .2) I wouldnt worry to much about the millage under 60k, if they have all the records and its over 60k I wouldnt worry to much. Just get a PPI on everything you decide to buy.

When my wife got pulled over for speeding on the Florida Turnpike the giant trooper called it a "porch" so that is what we call it now.

One of my sons has a 6 year old BMW 7 series, and I have a 20-year old 996. Both look as new. Both are about the same price today. In two years mine will be worth a good bit more than his. Go figure.

I don't like depreciating assets, and a Porsche holds value better than anything that isn't an exotic.

P.S. I also have a 20-year old BMW 528, as new, and it is worth maybe $5,000. It also comes with dashboard lights ON, and the Porsche works as new. When it's time to sell the Porsche, it is unlikely that I'll lose $1,000/year, and might even make money. Very few cars turn heads as much, and feeling good when driving a $20K car is fun to me.

I've stopped following it like I used to.
I thought that might be the case, nonetheless it's a great, new way for me to dream and kill time!

The German pecking order is: VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche. Forged in good German steel!

History, performance, quality, heritage. A good analogy is GM. Chevy is VW, Audi was Pontiac, BMW is/was Olds,/Buick, Mercedes is Cadillac, Porsche is Corvette.

No those are the people who want the car to drive for them. If youre "Pcar" car has any of the nanny safety bullshit like stabilty control, launch control, traction control or the like then youre driving skills are probably no better than a 16 year old girls. As far as you "people" (Pcar owners, mines a Porsche) opinions go, when you girls get around to controlling a vintage 911 turbo whos ass comes around faster than a whores during fleet week, Ill start taking you seriously.
