Only a Dodge owner would ever think that. You can say its not for you, but anyone who says one of the most iconic and successful sports car for the last 50 years looks like a turd does not know cars at all

Hard to compare anything to Eddie's Porsche.

P-car comes from the factory distribution, PCNA or Porsche Cars North America. There is nothing wrong with the term P-car at all. Snobs will be snobs, but any real car guy will understand. Having owned 9 or 10 or so over the years, I’m quite familiar with the terms and people involved. I’ve met Peter Porsche, been to the factory/museum, and have been intimately involved on a national level with Parade. No one I know is offended by the term P-car, and in fact, many use the term to avoid being snobbish. P-car is a well accepted term in the community.

I understand looks are subjective - but I think Porsche are some fine looking vehicles.... They need to update them a bit but that will come slowly ...

In this case - function over form.... Pretty much the only car you can beat up on the track for 50k miles and daily drive as well ...

Have an aquaintance that just won a tidy insurance claim and posted this up on his facebook. So much for the humblebrag.....he flat out boasted about finally being able to get his dream car. I did not bite and ask the details. Can anyone give me an idea of year and value of said "P" car?

Manual 996TT .... Have not checked pricing but maybe 45k depending on year? Assuming lowish miles and no issues ... Like the rear wiper

Thanks to this post, I found out about the Bring a Trailer' auction site. Is that legit? I only ask because there seems to be some screaming deals on there - some over the top bids on some cars but there are some that seem to be very low bids. Am I missing something?
Oh - and I think any version of a Porsche is drop dead gorgeous.....

I think it's unlikely that you're going to find any steals on BaT. You might get a decent deal, but it has a very well educated buyer base. Like any other auction site, all of the action happens in the last five minutes. I think BaT's auctions extend after every bid, so you can't get sniped.

But yes, it's legit. And there are some spectacular cars that come through there.

The only people I have ever met that call it a "P" car are the douches that go to car shows wearing all of their Porsche apparrel and have less than 10k miles on their car so it doesnt hurt the resale. Or go to limited track days so they dont scratch their prcious widdle 944s. Screw resale. My speedster has been flogged on the track and off since my dad bought it new more than 50 years ago. It will continue to be flogged by my son long after Im gone. My dad actually met Ferry Porsche after he bought the car. Hes the one who actually designed and built the first Porsche, the 356. The use of "P" car is for pretentious douchebags pretending to be humble. "Oh that? Its just a "P"car". I mean who says I have a Porsche car? Christ it just screams Im a giant douche!

That's quite an observation. It may be true but if you met me I would be the last person you would suspect owning a P car! I have been accused of being as redneck as they come. I wear camo jackets in winter and Infidel and Moan Labe T shirts in the summer. I only took my Turbo to one car show and it was a local fundraiser. I am a mechanic and enjoy awesome engineering and that is what I found. I called it a P car before I found out that was a "thing" while reading 6Speed! Everyone made fun of how I said Porscha or deep south Poursh so I just said P car. I received many crappy looks of the snobs when they found out who owned the car because when I was done with it , there would always be folks admiring it when I parked somewhere. I don't give a crap about what other people think, I loved the car and will get another one and probably soon!

I think you are combining a few different things that donít apply to most people. Sounds like youíre a car guy, but may be hanging with the wrong folks. Every snob Iíve met wants you to know itís a Porsche, P-car doesnít cut it for them. Anyone who doesnít know who Ferry is, isnít a P-car guy! Iíve seen and touched car #1. Many years ago, I almost bought a 356c, so Iím familiar.
