Jay - Go for Maui Jim. I've had mine for three years. Cracked a lens, but they replaced it for $79. No rubber shit either.

I know a couple people that have lost there costas and wrote letter explaining how they slid off there head never to be seen again. I dont think they sent them a free pair but it was more the 50% off.

I have a pair of Wyle X P-19’s, about every 18 months the rubber nose piece comes un-stuck. Send them an e-mail, and get an RA number. Shipping is $6 and about a week later I get a new in the box pair. Works for me.

Glad I saw this post. Needed rubber replaced on my wave killers. Costas repair process is simple & quick. Mailed out yesterday via usps and for $11.95. My costas have been great!

***UPDATE***

Got an email from Costa that my glasses were no longer made and I would have to go to the website to pick a pair and then they would tell me what the price difference was (if any)

So I decided to call instead. Spoke to a very helpful woman named Phylis who looked up styles that would be comparable to what I had, she gave me a couple options, I picked a pair and for $12.82 they are sending me a brand new pair of Costa's with 580G lenses like I had before.

So I guess for the moment they have sorta redeemed themselves with me.

You got decent service...the few times mine were discontinued, I had to fork out $30 (similar styles)

Great business model. Sell an overpriced shit product that requires repair once a year. When that model gets discontinued charge for another style that will require repair once a year. But people continue to buy them because they think it makes them cool.
back at it likes this.

Do you use the wipes made for glasses that have alcohol on them? I do daily. Love them. Someone told me the alcohol is what breaks down the glue holding the rubber on. Could be complete BS, I have no idea.

I feel the same exact way you do, the first pair of Costas I had (Rio Mar) were flawless for about 5 years, I stepped on them. Not realizing how the warranty worked I bought a pair of Tuna Alleys. They fog up constantly. The rubber completely fell off of them. They were replaced for free. Sent in my Rio Mars once I realized how the warranty worked, they replaced for really cheap with whatever I wanted because they stopped making them, switched to the Permits. They lasted less than a year, same thing, literally falling apart by the time I sent them back.

They need to up their game.

So actually the best thing for the consumer is when they stop making them, you then get to pick any pair you want for the cheap replacement price, like under $20

I have no issues with Costa. I have 4 pair, 2 of which I bought second hand. I sent back my pair of Harpoons because the lens delaminated. New glass lenses installed. 11$ shipping. Sent another pair back because the arms were peeling or delaminating. This was one of the second hand pair. Arms replaced and good to go for 11$.
the 11$ is for shipping.
even 79$ to get new lenses is a good deal. I’m not sure why people complain about the warranty, as I haven’t had any issues. I cracked my Zane’s in half and sent them back. They were DOA but Costa gave me a brand new pair for $100.
Buy some other brand then. Plenty to choose from the market.

They have done the math on what it costs them vs what they sell/repair for. They are in the black regardless. My plastic always craps out but that is the cost of doing business... wear and tear is expected.

Now what happened to that lawsuit though?

Ive found that the Merrys from amazon are a great Polarized option for short money. I've got 5 pairs floating around at any time.

I got my Tuna Alleys back this week. Brand new glasses for $13.

I've bought 2 pairs of $12 glasses from them in the last 3 months. One of which I told them I smashed; and it was 100% my fault. Have never paid the $79......
