Default Damn snake

Riding the little girl around on the golf cart tonight, and came across a black snake in the road. Stopped to let him cross, and try a-hole crawled up in the battery compartment. Then up and disappeared. Assumed he slithered out the other side, and continued on our ride. Stopped to talk to a neighbor and opened the seat to just check, and there he was. And he bit me on the hand twice. Finally got him behind the head and got him out without hurting him, and he calmed right down. Took him on a ride to the creek to let him go. Little girl and all the boys in the neighborhood on their nightly bicycle patrol thought it was great. Wasn’t too big, about 4’.

I would have burned my golf cart right there in the middle of the road.

Black racers are good to have around.

Not saying I don't poop my pants when I see one initially. Nothing nearly as bad as when my dad crawled into the skid steer, shut the door, and proceeded to exit it like a cannon

Black snake curled up under the pedals.

lol. My worst interaction with wildlife and equipment was on a skid steer. With yellow jackets. Bad part is when you are getting lit up by a hive of yellow jackets and have a grapple full of crap, you have to dump it (and the hive), get he seatbelt off, and lap bar up, then go towards them to get away. That was a bad day. Tangled with yellow jackets a few other times, but nothing like that. Made me understand why people spend an extra 20k for a cab machine.

In local South Florida news today a 4 ft. Ball Python jumped out of the toilet and bit a guy when he opened its lid.

Ouch! Yeah you're in a pretty bad position sitting in a skid steer.

that’s how he bit me. Opened the seat and he was on top of the batteries. Caught a bunch of them in the past. Only the 2nd time I got bit. If you catch them in the open it’s a lot easier.

That’s a big un. I miss seeing them here in south fl in the numbers i did as a kid. Always amazed at the “ men/boaters” that want to kill them.

I’ve tried to chase one down before...never had a chance. My wife saw a black tail rattler in our back yard last year. I, kindly, told her there was no such thing and it was a black racer.

Very cool OP!! I am a transplant that loves the south. I grew up with a menagerie of snakes for pets every summer. My only complaint about the south is their murderous attitude towards anything that slithers and is bigger than an earthworm. Almost all fears are based on ignorance and this is a prime example of that. When my third graders start screaming that there is a snake on the playground, I always try and catch it and show it to them. Once they calm down, they get very curious about it. Now, the one time it was a copperhead, the custodian handled that one in a very different manner.

After burning down the golf cart, my wife would have then tried to call in a B-52 strike on the general area.
