My TD business debit card got hacked for the 5th time last week. Somebody decided to buy iPhones for their entire extended family at four different wireless stores. They caught a final purchase since it caused an overdraft but let the other 3 go through. If somebody spends $2800 at a Sprint store in a different city wouldn’t that automatically raise a red flag? Still waiting on the money refunded plus 10 overdrafts.

Around the beginning of April I received a letter from Verizon asking me to contact them regarding my account, no other info in letter other than acct # and a toll free number to contact them. I just blew it off as a scam since I’ve never been a customer. About 3 weeks later another letter came stating the same info as before plus a warning that if I didn’t contact Verizon promptly the matter would be referred to collections. I didn’t call the # listed but went to a local Verizon company owned store, got the number for the Verizon fraud dept and called. I explained the letters, gave the acct# and low and behold the letters were actually from Verizon! Someone had gotten my personal info (I assume SSN) and opened an account in Pennsylvania, purchased the most expensive iPhone using a stolen CC#. When the CC charges were disputed/rejected that triggered VZ to find me. They were actually pretty easy to work with but couldn’t answer how someone out of state could obtain a phone#, phone and ship it to a different address using someone else’s CCN and info. What a pain in the ass.

someone likely has his login info and tried to login from a device that BOA doesn’t recognize. They send you a confirmation code to your phone so that you can login and confirm it is indeed you that tried to login.

Could be your wife tried to sign in and had conf # sent to phone # on file. Or someone obtained your login info, at which point it is time to change your password.
