Considering how flimsy most lattice is in terms of the staples/whatever at the "X" part, it would probably be faster and easier to just make something similar from scratch.

You could buy the plastic lattice and that problem solved.
Nice idea though.

Use the plastic lattice. Its made from ABS and is all one piece. No staples no falling apart and is UV stable so you can use it down at the dock also to wash your rods and reels.
