Default From the new driver thread, what was your first car?

#1) First car you drove on a regular basis and maintained
#2) First car you bought with your own money (could be the same car as #1)

For me:

#1) 1976 Volkswagen Rabbit (Lime Green 2 door) - My parents loaned me this car when I was a junior in college. I was a bicyclist before.
#2) 1986 Mazda 626 GT Coupe - After graduating with degree in Computer Science, College of Engineering

Lied when I was 14 to get a job, saved every penny, and the day I turned 16, I looked at a 68 Super Bee and a 68 GTO.
Mom would not let me buy the Bee, so my first car was a 68 GTO, green. Lota firsts in that car.

First car bought at 14, a 64 Rambler station wagon. Cost me $20 and a Craftsman torque wrench.

First car driven legally at 16, a 1969 GTO. (BAD idea for a 16 YO!!!). Threw a rod in it the first night, tried to coast home but dads have some good ears! First thing he said was congratulations on your new car. I'll help you rebuild it but you're buying the parts!

1 & 2; Mint 1989 Camaro Iroc-Z, 5.7/700r4, black w/ T-tops and grey interior. Built a 408 for it that I never got the chance to install. Keep telling myself I’ll get another at some point.

1986 Grand am that over heated if you didn't drive with the hood popped open, leaked water through the windows, had busted up struts and bounced all over

(1) '61 (I think) Chevy Carryall (from my Dad, I think he didn't charge me or I did chores, it was a hand-me-down) 4 on da flo
'(2) 71 Chevy Van extended, (new) three on da tree. Decided I was in love with my future and still wife when she borrowed it and drove it and parked it all over San Francisco
I was still single when I also bought 2A a "61 Mercedes 220se coupe (4 on da flo) in 1973 to augment the van. Both that and the Chevys were great cars, the Merc a real classic.

1) 1986 Lincoln Mark VII - That was around 1994 and Dad sold Cadillacs, had a customer that was going to buy a new caddy but didn't like the trade in offer. He bought it for a couple hundred more to close the deal. My parents both worked and made it very clear I had a car for their convenience, if I didn't get in trouble and kept good grades I could use it for myself also.

2) 1989 Cadillac Seville - Bought that in 1997 from my parents, paid them a bit below trade-in value since they were buying themselves a new car. The most mafia looking car there was, it was all Black with a black leather interior at a time when black interiors were truly black and not the dark charcoal they are today with 5% limo tints I put on it.

1. 1971 Pontiac Catalina. Nicknamed Moby, because it was a white sedan and very large. Needed your yacht license to drive it! Given to me from my grandparents, which were original owners, in about 1985. Back seat got to see some pretty memorable action!😃

2. 1981 Ford Escort 2-door hatchback 4 speed. Bought it in 1988, still had the Catalina for a few more years after. Everyone told me to plan on blowing a head gasket or cracking the head, but really had no problems with it at all until the no-name storm flooded it in 1993! Everyone said if I ever overheated it, it would be done, so I hooked up a bipass toggle to the radiator fan and would put it on when I knew I would be stopping for a while (no gauge just idiot light, so could not monitor).
