Default ACR ResQLink Personal Locating Beacon

I purchased one of these for "just in case" when we go offshore 2 years ago. Bought the subscription for two years and I start getting emails about renewing the subscription. When I go to their website to renew, i get an error message. Have emailed them a couple times about renewing and get no response. Im reading something on their website about a satellite being down and not accepting any new subscriptions. Does anyone have any further info about whats going on with this? Do I now have a PLB that is worthless? No phone number on their website that I can find. Just curious if anyone has any info.

What is the "subscription?" I don't have a subscription...I do have it registered, though. I believe that may last 2 years and you need to confirm info is still the same.

I don't think the ACR plb's have a subscription.

If you are talking about a subscription to 406Link, that is not necessary for the PLB to work.
This is from ACR...
"406 MHz beacons do not require subscription for emergency activations and works independently of 406Link.com. Remember to register your 406 MHz beacon with the proper authorities in your country."

There is no subscription with a PLB. I don't know what the OP is referring to. When you register a beacon, it is registered for a period of two years. They do that to keep the latest contact information for the owner on file.

Ok I understand now. The subscription is for the 406Link. It allows text and email confirmation when tests or emergency functions are activated. As long as the PLB will still work, Im good. I did register with the CG when i purchased, but it looks like i may need to renew with them since its been 2 years. Ill check it out. Thanks for the clarification guys.

Default Beware

I just registered my acr plb yesterday. If you google the web site a scam website is listed with the original url with a backslash added. My chrome book alerted me to the scam unsecured site. I typed in the website listed on the box and ended up at the noaa registration page. Took about 5 minutes to register with emergency contacts etc.
