Name him Jon. You can tell people he was named after the boat and he wont get beat up on the playground.

Whooaa hold up there, so Philip (with one 'L' I might add) is common ???? , I'm crushed.

we know a family with a son named 'marlin', and a couple maybe even 4 with sons named 'finn'.

i also like 'quint' and 'brody' -- jaws is an all-time favorite. i even tried to convince my wife to name our daughter 'amity'...but i lost that one.

some others that would be odd, and might be a little too soap-opera-ish, but not crazy...and these are mostly from traditional / older nautical terms
  • helm
  • hatch
  • hawse
  • keel
  • reef
  • strake
  • plank
  • fetch
  • cutter
  • timber
  • hitch
  • clipper

Since your screen name ends in hole maybe you could pass that name down. Although “Hole” would be kinda a strange name. Perhaps it could be his middle name. If your dead set on a nautical theme you could then give him the first name “Bung”.

I wanted to name my son “awesome”.
Goes to school teacher asks “awesome?”
Him “YES I AM”
you step on one of his toys in the middle of the night and he becomes “f*%king awesome!”
