Default BMW Ultimate Driving Experience

Spent the day with my two sons driving the heck out of Bimmers. In the words of Ricky Bobby...I wanna go fast. It was at the Hard Rock Stadium parking lot. Quick cars. The auto cross was in a 330 turbo 4, which they were promoting. Did a GPS guided street drive by ourselves. Forget the GPS...we went all over in a fast 440i convertible. There are a couple days left in Miami, then they go to a different city.
I did outdrive both boys and got 3rd place in the group.
Here is the schedule. https://ude.bmwusa.com/
We've done the Jaguar experience and that was cool also.

Here this weekend. I'm scheduled with the M5 comp.
Doing the M driving school at the factory next week too.
Afraid a M3 comp may be in my future. Hope I can resist.

EDIT- looks like we are getting the "M town tour" here.
We took performance center delivery in march and it was a great experience.

If you do it at the BMW Zentrum at the plant in Greenville, SC, tell Larry Parmele Keith Miller said hello. Fellow Elk and a hell of a great driver/instructor.

In late 2013 I was invited to the Corvette Precision Drive Event at PBIR. They had three tracks set up - low speed precision driving, a short road course (on the cart track) and a long road course (143 mph on the back straight). Prior year did a Cadillac CTS-V event there. Way too much fun!

My douchey brother-in-law is a BMW guy. His most recent purchase was a 2018 M5. He let me take it for a drive, and holy sh*t is that thing fast.
0-60 time is under 3 seconds. Probably the fastest car I have ever driven, and it has 4 doors. Crazy.

We’re going to the M driving school in SoCal. Let me know how you like it. My wife and I have done the AMG driving academy at Laguna Seca.and loved it.

I did a VIP track meet last may at the performance center here in Spartanburg . I had a absolute blast . Got to drive Mx5 offroad , M5 , M2 and M240i . I think the M2 is the most fun car I have driven . My office is literally 5 minutes from the performance center so some days I will cruise over there and just watch them drive the crap out of cars . And to weekilt that mentioned Larry .... HOLY SH*T I got to do a hot lap with him That was intense to say the least ....

It's actually 2.8.

And he has a nicer car than me because his wife didn't graduate with $250,000 in student loans. 😁

I did this in Miami a few years ago. Fun time for free., or maybe it was a nominal fee. Wish I had ponied up the $750 for a day of beating on an m4 though, those guys looked like they were having a blast.

this is also why you don’t want to buy a used “manufacturer’s car.”

yes! the UDE is a dealership-sponsored event.

i did the event in DC and it was great. auto-cross course was a lot of fun in the 330. we have a wet track so i got nearly sideways a couple of times but never touched a cone.

my only complaint with the DC event was when they pulled the M850 out of the test-drive line-up due to rain. i guess, before i arrived, some guy went ripping out of the parking lot and nearly spun out...somebody always ruins it.

Now you know rain separates the drivers from the vehicle operators. Good drivers excell in the rain.

I watched a short course BMW event on the go cart course. Friggin' dangerous! Some guy backed his wifes new Bimmer into the chain link fence. Track is simply too confined with no runoff space to be running cars...too many people close to the track. When shit happens, you don't have time to get out of the way!

Road tour was so-so. Drove a 2019 M5 comp and it was amazing. They let you go alone but just a couple of miles.
Then drove a 18 M3 CS with 250 miles. M3 was incredible and a lot less $$.
Nothing followed me home, no order was placed.
