Default Does your wood stiffen as it ages?

If you make a pole barn with 6x6 PT posts, will the posts become more or less flexible as they age?

"This may have been asked before, but can you guess who the author of a thread (original poster) is before seeing the name? There are a few here (hell, I may be one for some of y'all) that I can pretty much nail most every time "

How did you do?

First thought would be Russ. If not him, I would guess OldPete, and another that I can’t recall name of at the moment.

The 6X6 posts will dry and age with time. Eventually, they will develop an equilibrium with the humidity of your area.

Every joint, fastener, tenon, and mortise will loosen with time. Wind, temperature changes, snowload, frost, and everything else that expands and contracts anything will continue and loosen the pole barn.

Your "wood" is the least of your worries.

Depends on the hole you bury it in.

It depends on who’s opening the barn door

Wood doesn't soften you get stronger. When I was 25 I couldn't bend the wood at all. After 40 I was surprised at how much stronger I became because now I could bend the wood to about degrees. At 50 the same happened only now I could bend the wood to about 25 degrees, now over 60 I'm hitting about 30 degrees. I'm telling ya', at 80 I'm gonna be like the hulk I'm getting so strong.

Only if it is one he built, and obviously built better than your closet. I mean, we are all the worst craftsmen on the planet according to him. Not that he would toot his own horn or anything.
