We still use them at work Just a few weeks ago I transitioned to receiving alerts and notifications on iphones, but people still prefer the pager. It's small, works and never fails.

For the company(s) that can get away with pagers it would be a huge savings over phone plans.

Told my 17 yo daughter about the device I used to have that was just like a smart phone in that you could see a missed call. But that was it and had to find a pay phone.

funny, I was just talking about "beepers" the other day.

My best friend and I had them in high school...the cop at school taught us how to take the belt clip off and slide them in our pocket so he didn't see it. If he saw them he confiscated...(we would bring him breakfast at least 2-3 days a week lol)

I remember in the late 90's my employer gave all the IT desktop support "text machines" because they were cheaper than cell phones. Everybody complained because they said it was easier to just call someone instead of texting them.
