As part of the Kyle Petty charity bike ride, got to meet Kyle and Richard Petty, Herschel Walker, George Rogers, and a few other celebs yeaterday. Good time and a great cause. They wrap up in Key Largo this evening after beginning in Seattle 8 or 9 days ago.

Diesel Dave. Nice guy and great with the kids. He may not have given two shits but for five minutes he made my kids feel like they were the reason he came into town.

My wife was at a mall in Miami on the up escalator when a troop of security guards ran up above her and in walks Michael Jackson with a young boy in tow. He was about 5 feet next to her. In seconds, the balcony of this tremendous mall was filled with people shouting "Michaael, Michael". He blew a kiss and mouthed I love you. At the top he immediately ran into a record store with the youngster, the security shutters went down and he was hidden.
It was as close to a religious experience as she's ever had. The entire mall was shaking as a thousand people were stamping the floor.

Two of my classmates in my high school home room (S-Z) went into politics, one became a US Congressman, the other became a US Senator.

I met Grace Hopper ( the computer pioneer) a few times, she was a good friend of my dad

Forgot one of the coolest drivers to work with, A.J. Foyt. He had some great stories about Indy 500 wins with "slightly" out of spec engines!

Growing up as a kid in Canada, I got the chance to skate with a bunch of NHL hockey players who lived in the Nagaraja Peninsula. Every summer in the late 60’s I would attend Don Simmons Summer Hockey Camp in Port Colbourne, ON. Wayne Hillman (New York Rangers) was one of the instructors, as was Ken Schinkel (Pittsburgh Penguins). On Thursday evenings there would be quite a few known players from around the area who would drop in for some ice time: Derek Sanderson (Boston Bruins), a number of the Buffalo Bison (AHL) players, Toronto Maple Leaf players, Billy Dea (Detroit Red Wings), Elmer “Moose” Vasco (Chicago Blackhawks). As a young pre-teenager this was quite a thrill. Later I had a couple of opportunities to practice with the Buffalo Sabres at their Sunday morning skate. This was in the era of The French Connection, Jim Schoenfeld, Danny Gary, and others.

Jeff Foxworty, extremely nice, Wife and I ran into him on our honeymoon. Worst part is, a week later I got hit in the face and cut across my forehead....my sister in law was with us while shooting Clay's, she wanted to throw them with the hand thrower. She couldn't get the concept of how it works, launched one right at me right in the forehead. I always felt like I could have worked that into a great, "you might be a redneck if......"

Also Roy William's, Torey Holt (over the phone), and Marc Lieshman.

During the days right after 9-11 lots of celebrities we’re at ground zero, brought Robert Di Niro there on our boat, nice guy but if I would have known now back then he might have fell in the water. Hottest Star was by far Marisa Tomei she was naturally beautiful and very nice.
Known what about Di Nero exactly?

As a teen living on Long Island, Islip Speedway right there in out backyard, special night of racing, I believe it was a Wednesday night, all the big names in NASCAR showed up and raced at this tiny 1/8 or 1/4 mile track. Race was boring as hell because when we did go to the track, we wanted to see crashes and fire as usual in the weekend local drivers we were accustomed too. No fire, no crashes but after the race, we sat in the bleachers and waited for the drivers to stop by and say hello. We sat, they sat right next to us, and we talked and they signed autographs and we took pictures with them. Petty, Allison, and who ever was big at the time. Probably threw out the program way back when with all the signatures by these guys. Didn't seem important to me back then. Cool night as a teenager. Probably didn't realize who most of these drivers were back then. Next story about dinner with Lionel Richie, the Commodores, etc.
