How does this happen? SROs Gun Goes Off In Holster At School

Guessing a Sig and not a Glock, but maybe that is foolish to think? Seriously, how does this happen with a retention holster? Just really weird to me. Thoughts?

In our school district a good many years back a LEO/SRO discharged her gun while in the holster. . BIG stink about it

3-4 yrs back we had a some schools with private armed security at some of our elementary schools, while in cafeteria a student(elementary school ) actually pulled guys revolver out of his holster.

Needless to say that was the END of “private security”, we are one of the few school districts in SC to have full fledged SRO’s at ALL schools (elementary-HS)

Could be a bad round, but I’m guessing operator error. Glad no one was hurt

The article says "accidental discharge" but there is no such thing.

The story says Sig, doesn't matter. Guns do not just go off.

Maybe negligent discharge, unexpected discharge, or even premature - but not accidental.

I just dont see how a Sig, even a P320 with the known drop issue, could just go off in the holster?? I also dont see an SRO pulling his weapon out of the holster for whatever reason around a bunch of kids in a cafeteria.

Not according to the news media. They kill all on their own!

Seriously? Seems like the issue isn't with the parents.

Maybe someone cut in line? In some schools, that MIGHT be a “shooting offense”?!!!

Or an angry lunch lady?

Jus sayin....

Horseshit. Guns don't go off until someone puts their booger picker on the bang switch.

If it's a classic series, P226, 228, 229, 220, 239, etc, then yes. I think only one of their new fangled guns is DA/SA, but I'm not sure.

DUH, dummy me, I just found an article to link and didn’t read it! I knew my county switched to Sig a few years back, guess Pasco did too.
