Default Car insurance Florida

Just received our annual renewal and the premium has almost doubled. Insurer is Liberty Mutual and they claim they changed their rating system. As such everyone in Florida will be seeing a major increase.

Anyone hearing or seeing this?

Auto rates in FL are on the rise for sure.

Try Auto-Owners and Progressive.

I seriously doubt that Liberty is going to double the premium for each and every Florida insured.

Ha. We left Liberty Mutual also! They increased by a lot. Not double, but probably around 25%... so we went to Progressive and it went down from where we were originally with Liberty Mutual.

It's all a shell game... Shop it every year.

Driving in Florida is horrific. Progressive sucks. I have had Traveler’s for quite a few years. All insurance is on the rise

Two bad trends have been on the rise affecting rates. Frequency is increasing and severity of accidents have increased.

Same here, the letter from the insurance company said "rate increase in your area" (rural Palm Beach County). Seems odd since I'm in one of the lowest density areas in the county. So I called around and was told nobody can touch USAA's rates. Oh well, bed over, write the check.

I always heard USAA was the insurer to have, but I didn't qualify for membership until a few years back. Just for fun I priced out USAA auto insurance a couple of weeks ago - my current premium with progressive is about $2600/yr. The USAA quote IIRC was more than $1000 higher. In fact, I want to say that for equivalent coverage they were pushing $4k/year. That's for me alone, a pretty boring 40 year old with 2 cars.

I have to say, I have little loyalty to insurance companies but Progressive has been fairly good to me.

WHOA!!!! Thank you for that. Maybe I need to do a little more research. Pretty soon the annual premium will be more than our cars are worth.

We switched from State Farm to Allstate when SF jacked our rates up double when we added a 18 year old Sebring. Allstate gave us a rate lower than SF gave on the two cars we originally had. Rates has not jumped this year.
