Way too high or way to low.
That level of wealth puts you smack dab in the middle of shit takers.
Too much to ignore, not enough to establish real protection.

Best form of FU is low wealth independence perpetuated by charm, skill, insolence or some combination of all.

I am thinking 150 mil. The point at which you’ll keep getting wealthier with modest investment while still be able to buy or do pretty much whatever you want. 5 mil doesn’t go far anymore.

After rereading my poor excuse for english, I'm not surprised you can't understand it.

What I mean to say is the real ability to give a big FU when you feel like it comes at low income or real high income (or wealth).
They are remarkably similar in the freedom they bring.

5 million is take it up the butt money...not FU money.

I had drinks with a guy a couple weeks ago. He’s from Sweden, banking type guy. If we are talking globally, $1B makes you aware of the FU club, but won’t get you a ticket.

True.
But in my world and dreams, 1b will work. I don't need to be on Forbes.

Wow...

I must be really misguided. I would have thought that $5 million would be enough to just say FU, F'it, etc.

I guess $5 million is more like F'me.

It all depends, as others stated most need alot more to really and I mean really say FU. The true FU club can toss 5 mil to the wind and still be building wealth, it's like they can try if they want to lose it but not succeed.

Most like myself would say 5 mil would be my FU, I could buy what I wanted (I don't need much), retire, but the realization that I am not even a true FU member is the fact I have to plan my life within the confines of that 5 mil to even make it last.

Though not FU money, I think you can live a hell of a life if 5m just shows up in your brokerage account and you have half a brain in your head.

FU money is being able to jump in your jet to fly across the country to a Barrett-Jackson/Mecum auction. Buy 4 or 5 "exotic" vehicles for $1M+ each, and have them shipped to your California beach house so you can drive them ONE Time up and down PCH.
Then put them into your 75 car warehouse with your other vehicles that you don't drive anymore.

THEN, repeat the process next month!!!

Seriously though, I think $50 million is really FU money. If you only make 1% on your money, that $500k a year without touching the principal.
And if you if you reduce (spend) the principal $1M per year on top of that, you probably have a pretty good life!

5 million will produce 200k a year for the rest of your life. Not a huge sum, but if debt free you could write a check for a nice boat and car every decade without touching the 5m.
