Feed him better.

Least that's what I've been told. Our 4 yo plott was eating crap last night. Nasty!

But apparently natural...

Shock collar on the highest setting after wetting the neck of the dog. Seems cruel, but it is very effective.

We try to do this the best we can, but sometimes especially with snow, that is easier said than done.

A buddy of mine had his girl friend take their dog to the vet because of this same problem. The vet told her to put meat tenderizer on the dogs food......she got confused and when he came home she was putting meat tenderizer on the crap piles in the yard! I told him to please never invite me over for a steak dinner!

The tenderizer is supposed to create a really bad taste.....not sure how you could get worse than the crap itself but it worked for his dog. My brother tried it with his lab but it didn't work for him so it appears it works on some dogs but not others.

I always thought they were missing something in their diet when they did this. I have two labs and neither
do it. Honestly they can't stand poop in ANY WAY!

I had a lab that did it. We never could get her to stop actually would stalk our other dog we had and snatch it before it hit the ground. The worst was when she had been outside and then come greet you whit her shit smelling breath and crap caked in her teeth.

Feed it better. Some food (corn?) doesn't digest , so it still smells like food.
Walk it more seems to help with most dog issues, and if you bag it, then the option to eat it no longer exist.

Coproban. Itís an enzyme your vet can give you to sprinkle on the food of the dog whose poop is getting eaten. It makes it unappealing. You just do it long enough to break the habit. Might need to repeat periodically over the years.

Tried almost everything already said. The only thing that worked for us is the collar. We got a shock/vibrate collar. Just the vibration drew her attention and she quickly learned not to eat it. Though we still have to use the collar because she is smart enough to know if it’s not on she can eat freely.
