He could have won if she had bet a smaller amount. Not to many contestants bet all their money like that. I feel he should have bet it all for that reason.

Unless you had been lapped. Sheesh. Even a grade schooler knows that.

Uh, no. She bet just enough to cover an all in bet by James. The ONLY him to win is if she got the answer wrong.

Only if you are sitting on a conveyor belt. Which may or may not be moving.

Did you even read the strategy? Do you know why he was where he was?

The third place guy had $11K so James' bet of $1399 was not enough to beat him either.

The normal bet for the person in first place is an amount that would put them $1 over double the amount the person in second place has.

I missed Friday, Monday and last night's shows I was purposely avoiding this thread and anything else with Jeopardy Was sitting at bar eating dinner last night and they play highlights of his betting strategy interview on TV behind bar.

I've always wondered why 3rd place person in this situation bets Only way they can win is if other 2 miss. Bet nothing and hope all 3 get it wrong.

OMG No!! Not in this situation. He would not have ended up in first if both 1st and second missed!!!

Not in this situation they way James bet. Usually when 1st and 2nd are that close 2nd bets it all and 1st bets enough to cover by a dollar. If they had done that and missed 3rd's 11k would have won.

Aye-chihuahua!

(By the way, my bringing the race for second thread back into this was supposed to be a joke. It fell flat.)

James has $23400. Saxton has $11000. If Saxton bets it all and answers correctly he has $22,000. James bets $1399, if he answers incorrectly he has $22,001.

$22,001 > $22,000

I was thinking James would assume he knew the answer.
