Default Planning Trip Oregon or Beaufort Inlet Mid May

Hey guys I am planning a trip with my brothers down to either Oregon or Beaufort inlet areas. I have a 25 Grady with twins and more interested in offshore fishing but down to catch anything that swims. I have fished out of OI about 10 times mainly in charters but a few on my own rig I know how the inlet can get.

Right now I am leaning towards Beaufort as it’s a new spot for me to check out, seems to have more inshore opportunities and the inlet appears to easier to navigate than OI. But I like catching tuna too which OI has the better shot.

Anyhow looking for some advise which place you recommend and any lodging ideas you can throw my way. We don’t need anything nice just the guys wife and kids are staying home as long as I can park the boat out front or even better wet slip.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Can't go wrong with either one, that is prime dolphin and marlin time out of Beaufort, prime yellowfin and bigeye time out of OI.

Weather dependent, I am trying to do the same but Hatteras and Oregon Inlet. We have reservations @ Village Marina in Hatteras. I would like to get on the early Mahi run and some yellowfin out of OI. But as always all dependent on the weather. If interested, shoot me a PM and we can try to compare notes/strategies.

I don't know much about Beaufort Inlet or the fishing in that area. I know more about Oregon Inlet. Mid May is an excellent time for fishing inshore and offshore of Oregon Inlet. As to lodging, this is a place I have on Airbnb:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2371167...er_id=49271352

It's got plenty of room for parking a boat in the driveway, a boat ramp in the neighborhood (and it's close to the public ramps at Pirates Cove if you need a deeper water ramp), and it's close to plenty of good inshore fishing, as well as about a 30 minute boat ride to the inlet (20 minutes by car if you'd rather trailer your boat to the ramps at the coast guard station). It's a great house, and it's close to restaurants, shopping, the beach, the sound, etc. If you don't have an account with Airbnb, pm me if you're interested in the house.

As to fish species, mid-May is also the beginning of Cobia season, and about when the spanish mackerel show up. Inshore, you should be able to catch some trout and flounder, as well as Sheepshead around the Oregon Inlet bridge pilings.

Lps would you be interested in renting that from May 1 thru June 19?

Unfortunately, it's not available for that whole time period, as there are already some bookings in May and June. There's at least one two week span still available, though. There's a calendar on the airbnb site you can look at for the "unbooked" times. I'd love to have you book it!
