Doesn't seem like a case for them. Can anyone confirm?

Interesting nothing filed against any other person in the boat who presumably bought the alcohol? The OWNER of the boat, the DRIVER of the boat...

How come we haven't heard anything else from the boyfriend?

The other social media factor... that there are pictures everywhere of these kids drinking before this night. How many of these kids had Fake IDs and broke the law? Just look at Mallory's facebook, instagram, VSCO... underage drinking everywhere.

Not trying to downplay the loss of a young person however having a father who excelled in personal injury and wrongful death as well as having lost many friends and friends of friends to alcohol related deaths in automobiles I don't think this is going to be an easy case for either side.

Again, driver needs to take responsibility for his actions.

Assuming the article is accurate as to the filings, it sounds as though the family of the deceased is being very careful to not make accusations on their own that aren't easily proven by the facts already out in the open. From the sounds of it the places they obtained alcohol from and visited are very well documented on social media and elsewhere. Additional suits that are more targeted would not be off the table based on what has been filed so far. Given who the boat owner is and their legal abilities, this is probably very wise.

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. - The mother of a girl killed in a boating accident in Beaufort County last month is now suing the people who she says are responsible.According to The State Newspaper, Mallory Beach's mother Renee has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Luther's Bar in Beaufort and Parker's convenience store in Ridgeland. According to reports, they had a party earlier that day where they allegedly provided alcohol to the teens.Beach was thrown from a boat she was riding in last month. After a week-long search, her body was found. Officials say she drowned. So far no criminal charges have been filed in this case.

I'm not from here ...I live here... I know nothing of the politics in this area.(Im from Savannah, we have our own "families").
I run that Creek often and can tell ya it's dumb to go thru there much above Fwd idle.. I listened to the dispatch recording. The caller was fairly clear and concise. His discription of their location was about as good as can be. The delayed response and misinformation relayed to first responders is directly on dispatch.( Had my own issues with dispatch when our rental burnt down Tuesday morning. So much so that I may be taking a stand on attempting to have them adjust protocol and SOP).
This entire situation was avoidable. Bad decisions all around. We were all young dumb and bulletproof at one point. Most of us didn't have parents in a position to save our asses when we screwed up big even if theynwanted to.
It's sad, tragic and I hope that Justice is served .

Does anyone have a picture or video of the bridge? News reports say there are pylons before the bridge. I just can't picture what it looks like and have never been through there.

Approach from the western channel, facing south...
this is a screenshot from a video I took...
This bridge is kind of tricky to navigate..narrow opening and it's centered over the deepest water..

Fled to Mexico? Reminds me of Ethan Couch, the “affluenza kid”. He killed 4 people while driving drunk.

Default I have so many questions....

I have so many questions.....If the officer wrote in the report that the individuals were grossly intoxicated and they were ALL underage, were they at least sited for underage drinking? If not, WHY? Aside from not knowing who was driving the boat, at the very least, they all should have been sited for underage drinking.

In the 911 call, why does the caller seem to take forever to say “we have someone missing”. It’s almost like we crashed and oh by the way, we are missing one of our occupants - - no sense of panic or urgency. And if you pay attention to the background, why isn’t anyone yelling out to Mallory? I know if my friend went overboard, I would be repeatedly screaming her name!

It was also reported that Mallory was sitting on her boyfriend’s lap at the time of the crash. Aside from not hearing him screaming out to her in the background of the 911 call, why isn’t he naming who the driver was that night? What kind of “boyfriend” was this? His girlfriend lost her life and he staying tight lipped?

If Mallory Beach’s mother and her attorneys feel that they have enough evidence to bring civil charges against the Wood family for providing alcohol to minors, why haven’t criminal charges been brought against the Wood family as well? Why haven’t any criminal charges been filed in this case? Not even as much as underage drinking (as I previously mentioned).

It was also reported that the boat is registered to Alexander Murdaugh, therefore it’s not hard to conclude that the driver was most likely his son. I mean if I owned a boat and I let my son and his friends take it out, there is a 99% chance that my son would be the person driving the boat. I understand that the officials need solid proof over conclusions, so then why not pull prints from the steering wheel and boat controls?

Finally, if there is any truth to the rumors and speculation that this isn’t the first death that the well-connected Murdaugh kid has ties to (referring to the unsolved 2015 death of a young man in Hampton) then this is taking a hard turn to a future Dateline story!

My heart goes out to the Beach family. I hope they find justice and accountability.

Isn't there some salty investigative journalist with nothing to lose available to get these questions answered? Isn't journalism competitive and capitalistic when boiled down? Start with this story then head North and find out who is in the yearbook picture of one particular governor.

Hopefully, the bureau can unravel this for the family and the community.

Local papers and TV don't have the money or resources to launch 48 Hour, Washington Post, or even News & Observer level journalistic research investigations. especially nowadays.

Hopefully the FBI will get it sorted out. It will take some time.

Interesting. From what I have read, I'd seriously hate to be in a lawsuit against the Murdaugh family. Sounds like you have no chance. That and you would have 4 generations of attorneys and probably this guys future kids and grand kids suing you. Might be a guaranteed blackball for these people too.

Good ole boy town, USA
