Default Cape Lookout / Albies - 11/3-11/5

I'm from Cape Cod, MA but staying in Beaufort for the next few days with the intent to fish for Albies. Fished Cape Lookout area all day today, both inside by the lighthouse and the outer coast with no sign of em. I rented 20' Carolina Skiff for a few days so have some maneuverability in the local area. Hoping someone local might be able to point me in the right direction, appreciate it guys, beautiful country down here!

In that boat, Unless it is slick calm your best bet is the rips on the 2 spits of the hook. I was there a week ago and there was a reliable early morning bite there.

^ This. If you are not at the hook early enough you will miss that bite.

I was able to get out Tuesday (10/30) and Wednesday (10/31). The fish have been scattered here and there along Shackleford banks and around the hook. The water is dirty along the beach and there were not any bait balls. The best we did was to get away from the beach to warmer and clearer water.

He's making a joke... if you are trying to catch mackerel, Murphy's Law says you will be plagued by false albacore.

But, yes, you will catch false albacore on menhaden. You'll think you have hooked a 50lb king mackerel and end up with a 15lb false albacore

I was going to say just come set up right behind our spread in the Nationals this weekend. Should be schools by the thousands behind us.

I fished this past Saturday Sunday and Monday. It was dead - no baitballs, no fish eating bycatch behind the shrimp boats. When you see the pro guides giving up and heading in around noon, it’s bad. My first time down there for the Albie bite and I think we just showed up in a slow weekend.
