Default How has your 2018 season been so far?

Mine has been backwards. Iíve always caught more kings, flounder, and big Spanish in October. This year Iíve caught most of my kings(including near shore) in May. I caught big Spanish in June and I caught my biggest flounder in May.
No doubt Florence played a huge role in this reversed season.

I had a great spring in freshwater, had a fun outing for spades at the tower, crushed the cobia in June, sold my boat and was down until late July. Spent a lot of time making boat my own and paid my dues the last two months offshore. Now I guess I’ll get defeated by stripers and try to bum rides crappie fishing until spring bite.

Overall 2018 was mediocre. 2019 may be epic if I can keep the boat running haha

As an aside and an edit... I thought this was the mid-atlantic forum. Look forward to see how y'all Carolinians did.

This was supposed to be the year of the daytime swordfish for me. Well, crap! There is still some time though.

Been really good for us but we are relatively new to offshore in our own rig. Caught mahi every trip out except for the one time we broke a pickup tube and had to limp back in on one motor. Picked up a nice king that day. Got our first sailfish this year. Haven't boated a hoo yet this year but hope to change that in a few weeks. Flounder trip in June was excellent, slayed em fishing and gigging.

Bottomfishing has been good, but haven't gone enough. Trolling trips have been very minimal due to fishing my 21' more than my buddy's boat. Hope to get back out there soon.

Offshore from OI has been decent this year for me and those who go with us. Plenty of mahi the past 3-4 times out, fantastic yf bite in the spring, a cpl big eyes. Looking forward to the fall bite that should start heating up for yf anytime now. Boat has run great, crews have been fun, life is good 35 miles off. Just get the goddamn bar cutdown so I don't crap my pants first thing in the morning and I'll be even better.

Well I will sum up this season to this point as terrible! First I haven't had much time to go fishing at all, one offshore trip where we did well with Dolphin, inshore (Sound) fishing has been terrible since May, water has just been to warm with 85-88 degree temps. More skunked trips than I wish to mention. Hoping this Fall is better and was hoping to get out this weekend but the forecast doesn't look to good.

I will say this had vacation in Rhode Island in August and surf fishing was fantastic, so that helped break up the season a bit.

Fished less than I have in years. Combination of weather, family stuff and that whole work thing. The few times I got out this spring and early summer we did well on kings. Two bottom fishing trips yielded no grouper but some stud sea bass, triggers and beeliners. Hoping to squeeze a trip in next weekend if at all possible.

Well 2018 has been good to me. 2 trips to Venice, LA, 1 Trip to Destin, FL and 10 trips to Morehead City. I put a lot of miles on my truck the past 10 months, but itís been worth it.....

Iíve been very lucky to have a wife that lets me go when I want and enjoys going herself. The best part has been being able to share the blue water experience with so many friends and family. Just 3 years ago I had never owned a fishing boat and had no clue what I was doing. Now I know what people addicted to heroin feel like when they havenít had any in a while Haha

you are def dedicated. I see your name on here a lot and the trips that I've heard you taking from TN to morehead are an astounding number. It's nice being married to a friend maybe even best friend and the fact that she is a pretty lady makes it that much better. Good job buddy.

All I can add here is I am looking forward to 2019 with hopes that we all can be spared storms and all the devastation that they bring. My fishing buddy (son) has been displaced since Florence so not much fishing now.
