I’ve been thru morehead and Beaufort today.... both water fronts are a mess and if I’m not mistaking, every restaurant in morehead, got flooded. If not it was extremely close.

And it is STILL gusting and raining like nothing I’ve ever seen. Check my FB out for videos. Phillip Owens I’ve got a fountain Cc in my profile.

They're a scourge to mankind. You should've seen what they did in New Orleans after Katrina. It's one thing if they're looting water and food, which is probably understandable, but when they start walking out with TV's, stereo's, jewelry, etc., now that's a horse of a different color.

Unfortunately I lost power this morning. Thereís a few blocks without power. We have underground service so something must have gotten flooded I guess. No have not ventured out side the plantation but here is a video from the Southport Fire Chief https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...482133%2F&_rdr

It got crazy just before the eye arrived. I saw some siding in the yard so I was shining my flashlight on it to see if it was mine. When I went to the computer room window, I noticed water dripping from the top of the window frame from the wood. The NW wind was pounding it with gusts up to 80. Then it started pushing in after each gust. So I grabbed a mattress and leaned against it for literally an hour until the eye came over and the winds died. So it basically took in rain from where some shingles had blown off earlier in the night and softened up the frame. The idiots that built the house didnít put any backing down before installing the shingles. So I ended up with wet places on the ceiling where the plywood was exposed. It was a storm to remeber even though it wasnít that rough. I say that and weíre getting gusts in the 40ís out of the south and driving rain right now. Hope no shingles blow off the south side. I was able to get a claim in, so itís waiting time for an adjuster.

Good to hear from you. Sounds like you got out not too bad, all things considered. Never really did much here, one bad rain shower and some wind but that's it so far.

Buddy's grandparents up in Broad Creek got some images from their neighbors (they evacuated to Raleigh). Their house is an island now, the water looks like it's just to the top of the crawl space. Heartbreaking I'm sure to see, but structurally it looks ok so maybe they got lucky.

That sucks man, I hate to hear that. Hope he recovers ok.

Yeah, I saw where a mom lost her life along with her 8 month old child not too far from here, so that really put things in perspective. Lester Holt happened to be riding in a fire truck that responded to the call, so it was crazy for sure. It looked like
a big oak fell on the house. The Dad is in the hospital.

Hope you fared well !

I'm happy to hear it wasn't any worse.

They may have missed on the strength estimate but you're right, they were right on with the location and it was a long way out.

It was an eye opener around daybreak. I woke up at 1:30
with it howling. It was just a wide storm and still pounding us with wind and rain.

If there is, when you get back down DO NOT open it! Duct tape it shut and wheel it to the curb, ask me how I know!
