I hate these things as they always seem to come in at night, scary hearing all the things blowing around and not being able to see outside. Stay safe in NC...

probably the same reason SC had road crews out working shutting down lanes on the interstate while people were evacuating, just nobody in the positions to make the decisions that really should run a broom.

Is windy accurate? Ventusky shows eye passing over Wrightsville Beach.

CBS this morning had a short clip of two idiots who were going to spend the storm on his boat, at the marina. His quote (I may have missed some words) "... we'll just turn it into the wind".

This is a great example of Darwin's Law at work, and proof that no matter how stupid you think people are, you can always find someone that is even more stupid. Stupid has no bounds.

The front side of the eye came over Topsail Inlet and then turned almost due south. Now over MB.
Apparently it is not 'landfall' until the back side of the eye passes over land.

Man, those waterfront houses on the barrier islands along Emerald Isle and Topsail must be getting the snot beat out of them. This thing is just creeping along. Ugh!

Up here in Edenton, we have only seen some gusty winds and occasional bands of rain. Not too bad at all when compared to the poor souls down south of us.

Front St was flooded this morning up to the doors on the Mexican Restaurant. Looked like a foot or two of water on the road. Hard to judge from the pic I have. Not sure about the residential houses on Taylors Creek. High tide is noonish.

Friend sent this from Crows Nest in AB. Pic was taken and posted on FB- apologize for not posting photo credit but I do not know who took it.
Our old house is just down the road from here. I was told by the old owners of Crows Nest it was built to withstand 140 mph wind.

I saw pics on Facebook of 70 West at 5 am- looked like it was OK. I have a place at Sea Spray on AB- very concerned to say the least

Looks like the center is over Carolina Beach at 9:30 AM according to the Wilmington weather radar.
