Default Manteo to New Bern on Saturday.

Looks like I am going to have a long crossing of the Pimlico and a less than pleasant ride. Any advice?

Sat
N winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming NE 15 to 20 kt in the afternoon. Waves around 2 ft. Showers likely with a chance of tstms.

Leave as early as you can! It will be a tailwind which on some boats is better but some not. Don't believe that 2', 15-20 will stack up higher than that quickly!

Should be somewhat of a following sea I would think with that wind direction. I've never made that run personally so hopefully someone with more experience will chime in.

This is about the same winds going the other way cruising at 30 knots on our 37. (copied the link from the build thread in the photos section, hope it still works!)

I don't know if it would be any better to hit the ICW (Alligator, Pungo etc.) and puts you out at the Bay River. Is that they way you started your trip?

At this point, that may be the lesser of the two evils....or like you just posted, find a ride. Good luck either way.

yeah we did New Bern for four years and love it but we fell in love with the outer banks and could use a new place to explore. Anyways as much as we loved New Bern it was always an hour down the Neuse to get to the place where you could actually go somewhere.

My friend may be selling his place at Pirates Cove. He has a slip in front of his house and one at the marina. We love his house and Pirates Cove is a great area. PM me if you like.
