Default Bonner bridge updates?

What's the latest and greatest with the new bridge? What is the target opening day?

Is that small and narrow temporary bridge just south on 12 still in place?

They are making good progress on the new bridge just take your time approaching the work zone. Lots going on in that area. The temp bridge has been replaced with a new bridge and I am pretty sure it is in use.

Temp bridge south of OI has been replaced with a new nice wide bridge that has been in use for months. Very nice - no bumps!

Good to hear.

I did not like crossing that narrow temp bridge with the boat in tow esp with a semi coming the other direction, it was tight.

If you are heading this way with boat in tow be damn careful on the south end of the big bridge in the construction zone. The highway is rutted up pretty badly and is mighty hard on boats and trailers. I had my trailer come off the ball last week going through there at 25 mph headed to O'cock. Then saw a boat just about get bounced off the trailer right there on the return trip. It's not bad if you are not towing, but the spacing of the ruts across the hwy is set up just right to do some damage if you are.

My brother is over all the bridge inspectors in NC. He told me they’re looking at Nov, possibly early Dec this year to open the new bridge. . He also said that they are going to be rehabbing about 1000’ on the southern end of the old bridge for a permanent observation/fishing platform. That part probably won’t be finished up until late summer ‘19 though.

If your trailer comes off the ball then you might just have the wrong size ball.

Any idea how fast they will tear down the rest of the old bridge?

He said they’re shooting for late summer ‘19. Don’t imagine they’ll open the fishing platform prior to finishing all the demo.

They've put fresh asphalt down on the dips and holes, it's much better than a week or two ago.

New bridge will not help boaters until the old bridge comes down, at least several spans center and to the south
The old bridge is too low, sections too narrow and shoaled. The old bridge is a hazard
