Default Hatteras May 12-15

Looks like high pressure moving in after Thursday. Rigged and ready to go. Looks like "Holy Smoke", "bestins" and "seashift" from the other board will all be there. We plan on starting for tuna but will be ready for the mahi also. We spent Sunday evening respooling my reels and changing all my leaders, swivels and knots. Went to 30' flouro and wind-ons for the tunas.

Sam, looks like you will have some good weather for night chunking.

Good Luck,
Alan

Whats your game plan, tuna first and mahi second? From yesterdays reports, the tuna are getting more scattered but the mahi are pretty thick.

I monitor 68, 69, 71, 72 and of course channel 1 but that is mainly so I can listen to the fleet. Call me. "Big Teaser". You will understand that later. PM!

I have no idea what the guys out of OI have been doing. For a while, some were running south to Hatteras then I heard of a few charters running north. I hope the warm water moves back in for the OI crowd because it has been non-existent. Good luck and give us a call on the radio if you head south.

We fished out of Ocracoke this past week end... the dolphin bite was hot, we targeted tuna with no luck. The charters had no tuna either. We fished past the rock pile out to 6000 feet... weed lines were at 4000 feet, the bite turned on at 75 degree water. They hit skirted bally both blue and red. Other boats south of us, 15 miles or so, had more hookups.

The Capt of Devenrue (incorrect spelling) told me that the tuna had been running in shallow dirty water (100') and were hitting bally. He also told me the king bite was on. He told me this of couse the day that we were leaving.

Good luck. Oh... if its too rough outside the trout bite was excellent in teaches hole. We also picked up (and released) 30 some blues that were running right behind the bar of Ocracoke inlet.

Good luck

Good report. Thanks alot. I hope things move in a little. That had to be at least 45-50 miles for you running from Ocracoke. From Hatteras it is right at 32 miles to the 100 fathom line but only about 5-10 more to the 1000 I think. My charts are on my boat.

Look us up. Its always good to have some buddies to watch out for each other. If the weather stays good, we will fish through the 15th. Whats your name? What kind of ride will you be in?
