Default Military Appreciation Day Morehead City May 30th 2015

I want to say thank you again to all of you who have graciously volunteered last year and in many past years to help show our Heroes and their families a great time. The event last year was another success and we can't do it without our volunteers and boaters!

Military Appreciation Day 2015 will be held on May 30, in Morehead City, NC

Here is MAD in a nutshell - We have Troops signup on our website, we pair them with the boats that have volunteered, we provide all the contact info to the Captains. You all discuss the day, where you'll meet, what to fish for, what to wear or bring, no bananas, etc.

Captains and Volunteer meeting is Friday May 29th in Jaycee Park and then we move to City Park for a great supper provided by our generous donors and the HOBO JUNCTION cooking team! It will be setup cocktail style so there will be more talk and mingling time for everyone. Great door prizes will be given away and if ya leave hungry it's your own fault!
Event day is at o'dark thirty. you'll meet your troops, check out with us on the VHF or cellphone or checkout boat and go fishing!

When you get back we'll have volunteers ready to dock and help clean the days catch. Afterwards we will have another great feast featuring Murphy Brown Pork Chop Steaks with all the trimmings!

While you're out fishing, we entertain the families back on land with boat rides, Carrot Island wild pony pontoon boat tour, face painting, bounce house, dunk tank, carriage rides, kids dockside fishing derby, and our newest additions are a Sugarloaf Island scavenger hunt and Beaufort Pirate Adventure ship!

As of this post we have over 640 Troops on our waiting list, and only 43 boats. If you know someone who may be willing to help...please pass this on to them and let them know about the MAD mission.

The memories made from this day last forever. A smiling Troop who caught their very first fish, first boat ride, first time on the water, or the family member who gets to spend time with the kids fishing from the dock, listen to the music, take a boat ride around Sugarloaf Island...see the wild ponies on Carrot Island....you get the idea.

Do you have what it takes to help us? I can tell you one thing, the Troops who protect our Freedoms certainly have what it takes and I am overwhelmingly excited to help show them appreciation in any way I can.

Calcutta and Sea Tow are back on board with us this year offering goodies, shirts, and free towing/assistance for MAD boats on event day.

Please stop by the MAD site and sign up today, we need boaters, and other volunteers to help with site & food preparation, serving, cleanup, dock help and fish cleaning.

Lastly, (thanks for reading this far) I'll have most of my family with me, and little JR who you all lifted up in prayer during his brain bleed and supported us in so many ways last year, stop by and see him if you have time!
There is an after party as well with an invite from the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament at their free concert featuring country star James Wesley at 8:30 pm. Calcutta will be filming a promotional video there that evening too!

Lastly, (thanks for reading this far) I'll have most of my family with me, and little JR who you all lifted up in prayer during his brain bleed and supported us in so many ways last year, stop by and see him if you have time!

Hey Marty, thanks for the compliments. We've actually asked Mr Wesley to come spend a little time with our crowd too, possibly eat one of those Murphy Brown Pork Chops! No response yet, but we're hopeful.

Marty is it just a concert or are there other things Big Rock related going on too?

So far it is just a concert, which will be the set up for the "Big Rock" song video. Not sure if anything else may fall into place, the event is getting bigger by the week. I do know Redfish Grill will have a beer garden going on in his parking lot by the fountain. I think Crystal is hoping for a large turn out so Mr Wesley will have a "packed house" for the video filming.

Are you going to be manning the booth at the boat show the week earlier??

Probably Don Gray and someone else at the boat show, I'll be winding down! "Beer Garden" - I'm in! We are promoting this concert too and as you know we'll have a lot of volunteers and participants there as well.
As a matter of fact, I will get a link going on our Military signup page. Enrollment for Troops starts on April 13th. Please ask Crystal how else I can help.

Have you put your info out to the tourism board for them to put on the scroll at the ramp by the college?

Anyway Back to the show!! Guys, MAD is one fantastic organization please help either with your boat, wallet or your muscles! It takes a lot to put on an event this size and it is for a most worthy cause!!

Troper you'll be buddy boating with about 50 boats my friend. We all communicate and keep each other informed to catch these guys and gals some fish. Captains meeting and supper is a good time to make closer alliances if you choose. We should all have "Fish Here" maps from Capt. Dave so there will be groups of boats in hot places. We'll sure holler if we get in em!

Gentlemen , I have been wanting to do this as well for some time. Any suggestions on secure boat storage the night before? I'm a bit concerned about leaving the boat in a hotel parking lot the night before. Any info would be appreciated.

I can ask Sea Tow, they have gated storage with cameras and have offered MAD use of it before. I'm sure they'll say yes. I wouldn't leave a bunch of gold reels in the rod holders though.

Sea Tow has said yes but asks you have it there before 5 pm and then what time would you need it the next morning?

Default Password help for MAD site

Hey Scott, I volunteered again for this year but I haven't been notified of who I'm taking out. I would really like to establish contact with my troops. Are you guys still working on that or did I miss an email or something?

Todd Hedrick ( boat name lost shaker)
