Default Bogue Inlet - Where's the channel

Was down 3 weekends ago and was out cruising. Went into the inlet and WOW it has changed. Looks like the last Red can is gone and the last green can looked to be on a sandbar. Deeper water look to be to the right of the last Green can.

What's the best route out? I assume the markers have not been moved yet.

Yep, there's been a lot of shoaling in the inlet. From what I have been told, the CG Cutter out of Fort Macon did relocate buoys to re-mark the good water.

You are correct. the last red can is gone, and you need to pass the last green can on the right. I was out last Saturday and the buoys were not relocated at that point. I'll be heading out tomorrow morning, so I'll report back.

Take a look at the latest USACE survey of Bogue Inlet (May 2010). While these are never 100% accurate, it will help a lot.

As you can see, the red #02 is missing, and the green #01 is hugging the outer shoal right now. The deeper channel is definitely west (to the right) of the #01 buoy. Last time I went out of Bogue, I was about 30 yards to the west of green #01.

The side cast dredge was at Dudley's today. After it dredges the channel the CG will reset the nuns and cans. Too shallow for the CG buoy tender to do the work.
