Default Reel Repair

Anyone have suggestions for someone to do reel repairs in the Swansboro/Emerald Isle area.

I have a TLD-15 that needs some work. Drag is not loosening. Also have an old Penn reel that needs some work. Want to get all my reels respooled and a good cleaning too.

Default Reel Repair

Might not be exactly close but I use Haddrells Point for all my rod and reel repair! They are in Charleston, SC and they ship stuff out all the time!

Joe Shute does mine. Also, maybe Neuse Sport Shop on your way down from Wilson?

Neuse sends out their work to the guy in Goldsboro. Capt. Joe in MHC has had a reel of mine since middle may, so if you are in a hurry ....

Freeman's in Atlantic beach is fast and reasonable. The do it in house. I'm sure Joe Shute's is good but I took a rod in to have a new eye put on it they told me it would take about 2 weeks. I took it to Freeman's and got it back in 2 days and you can't even tell which eye they replaced. The have done a great job for me on Penn's and Shimanos.

I have taken many reels to The Reel Outdoors. I was amazed at how good a job they did on an old 6/0 my dad had stuck back in a shed. Look and worked like brand new! Pretty reasonable prices from what I remember.

Closer to home, there is Nash Rod and Reel Repair @2530 Hunter Hill Road
in Rocky Mount. 451-0092. I've used them before and have been satisfied.

Joe does seem to be spread out a little thin these days and now that Gene is gone, there's kind of a void in the shop. The young man that Joe has at the counter seems very nice, but he doesn't bring the same knowledge and enthusiasm as Gene. I like Joe and will stay a loyal customer, but I think it would serve him well to get a full time fisherman/ salesman/ reel repairman/ etc. in there.

I don't mess around anymore with reel repairs. Got tired of dropping stuff off and it taking weeks longer than promised, or getting reels back that still did not work.

I now box everything up and send them to Haddrell's Point in Mt Pleasant.

Great service, good prices and quality repairs.

Not saying anything about any of the other places listed, just recommending a great group of guys at Haddrell's
