Loran offsets change from day to day. you need to set the offset at a known object such as your slip everyday. Even though the offset wont be much it will vary a little every time you turn your loran on....Mark

Really they're not needed for offshore fishing where youre fishing a general area, ie the 650 line....for bottom fishing where you need TDs then yes. For offshore trolling, no.

Look for a Grease Chart of the area. They are at least one of the map companies that have Loran C bands overlayed on the chart.

I have the charts, but I don't see any offsets on them. The chart is 9960 WXYZ.

Set your loran to loran chain 9960XY and you will be good to go.

The 9960 XY chain number is correct but not completely accurate. The best way to do it is calibrate it to a known object every trip as Offshore said. I just keep my offsets the way they are because they are accurate enough for what I use it for.

Thanks, I have it set on 9960xy already but it has x and y offsets you can put in also. But we mainly do offshore trolling and have never used the offsets before. None of our other units ever asked for the offsets.
