Anybody heading out of hatteras tomorrow? We’re planning on heading to the rocks and try and jig up some Blackfin. We’re going to leave around 5:30 and try and be back by 1ish before the wind picks up. Anybody else going out?

Haven’t been out in forever and willing to come back by 11. With a small window like this we usually just go out there and when the wind starts go blow we head back and hope it dosent start blowing too hard. That’s the nice part about the short run here.

We tried to cut the corner in the morning and that was a terrible idea. Motor was pretty much bumping bottom all the way through but made it out. Slick calm seas and headed to the rocks. Made it to the 230 and had 61 degree water so drove around for about 30 minutes trying to find some warmer water but the stream was pushing inshore fast so it got up to 68 by the time we made it to the 280. Trolled for about 30 minutes before picking up and started jigging. We were marking great and hooked up on a couple Bonita and some bigger fish that were eaten by sharks. There were about 10 sharks under the boat at all times making it hard to get a fish to the boat. We switched to bottom fishing and got 5 big vermillion and 6 good sized sea bass. Stopped by the smell wreck and caught a red drum on a jig but nothing else. Headed back in around 11:30. Slick calm all day. Coming back through the inlet went the shortcut and made it through the inlet fine but ran aground hard at the spot where it gets shallow. That inlet is awful. Great day with amazing weather.
