You gotta have one of those screens that beeps when the fish are near. If you don't hear a series of beeps from the color screen thingy the fish will not bite. Ive seen this on TV.

Are yall running your typical ballyhoo spread?

messing with trolling weights or planer rods?

Or finding good marks, lots of bait and chunks, with live baits over the side?

I have seen lots of the fleet up there pulling kites with flying fish and big dredges 300’ behind the boat

more than one way to skin a cat I recon

We use SPRO barrel swivels - never had an issue with those.

We've had hooks fail, rods snap, and line break, but never a failure of the swivels.

You definitely have to square up the rod to the line to make sure it passes through smoothly, but never been too much of an issue with a competent captain and angler.

Recently just upgraded to the AFTCO bigfoot rollers for that exact reason.

Some folks suggest the SPRO power swivels thinking the more rounded edge will reduce any hangups, never personally tried it, but the logic is sound.

Spro 230lb, make sure it slides through your guides nicely, if not different rods, different connection or smaller slimmer swivel.
