small beach rental near Charleston late October?

My wife and I are looking for a small cottage for a few nights near the beach. We live outside Boston and figure that’s a reasonable place to drive in one day, spend a few nights and drive home.
We would probably cook our own food, get take out and mostly keep to ourselves. I have a blood disorder so covid has been keeping us cautious and encouraging me to skip hotels or buildings with common areas. Normally we are pretty social but this year has been brutal and just want a few more nice days before cold weather hits us in the Northeast since our annual Southern trip probably won’t happen this winter.
any suggestions? Any rental owners here feel free to call/text me. I figure areas like Sullivan’s, Folly etc are what we want but never been to that area. We are extremely clean, no smoke or pets etc. we are around 40 and no kids. Ideally places that offer great walking, beaches and good restaurants and grocery options. It’ll be a cheap trip but happy to spend for nice views, new/renovated unit. Proximity to stuff is nice but we just want outdoors and a decent place if the weather turns.
thanks in advance!

We stay at Sea Cabins on Isle of Palms through Island Realty (they send out rental coupon codes too, just FYI). Its oceanfront and we've never had issues there, esp in October. (The beach gets crowded of course if its nice, but the condos themselves are quiet and has a pier) The condo units are very small but if you're like the two of us, you won't be in there much but to eat, sleep, bathe, and sit on the porch taking in the ocean views and breezes! You can walk to restaurants and there's a grocery store right down the street. Look for condos in bldg C (IMO) - it's further away from the town's busy public access. Late Oct will prob be windy, just a heads up if you planned to fish. Enjoy wherever you go, I LOVEEEEE that entire area!!!!!!

i saw a couple condo buildings in that area on VRBO. Thanks! I’ll check those out, that sounds like what we want. If they’re quiet I’m hopeful it will be relaxing.

Folly is the most average folks / hipster / beach bum / surfer / trustafarians. Mostly bar & grill type restaurants. Have to leave the island for the grocery store, but only by a couple miles. Beach traffic won't suck in October so that wouldn't be too concerning.
Sullivan's is the most, high end, I'd say, of those 3. 90% residential with small main street area with a handful of restaurants. Some casual, some fairly nice. Also no grocery store.
IOP has pretty much all types, and everything you could need is on the island. Restaurant, grocery store, liquor store, etc.
Don't take my profiling too personally, but I'd guess based on Boston and the list of things in your signature, and the desire to come and not have to get out and around too much, IOP is probably what you're looking for. Possibly Sullivan's but I'd expect most of the rentals on Sullivan's will likely be overkill for 2 people.

As the others have said, October is nice here bc its not normally sweltering hot and most of the yankees have returned home from vacation so the traffic isn't terrible, just Charleston bad. You would want no part of Folly in the summer. If you do stay on folly, there aren't a ton of good options for dining, and buy your liquor off the island. Taco Boy is good and the restaurant on the corner with outside patio has good brunch. Lost Dog Cafe has a good breakfast. Go grab a drink at Loggerheads at the outside bar. I don't know if there food is any good, I have never tried it.
I have stayed on folly a few times and have been there to hang out a fair amount. In the offseason it is a pretty quite chill place. If you need anything James Island is a few miles down the road and it is very populated and you will be able to find anything you need there. It is basically part of Charleston. (JI people hate hearing that, hehe)
