Default Lowcountry Inshore Reports and Discussion Thread

The offshore reports thread has been strong for many years. Would love to fish offshore all the time, but boat size, fuel budgets, and amount of free time have me fishing inshore more often these days. I can’t be the only one. Anyone care to get an inshore thread going?

Fished inshore Saturday morning. Had a nice topwater trout bite going right at 0:dark-thirty until just after sunrise despite being at a dead low slack tide. Got pretty slow while we searched a few other spots, and then picked back up a little around 9:00 when the water was moving well. Ended with 3 keeper trout and a nice flounder. 2 keeper trout on topwater, and then the last trout and the flounder on live finger mullet. Topwater trout at sunrise is always a nice start to the weekend.

I fish pretty much every day either inshore or the nearshore reefs. The creek shrimp have been plentiful on low water and the fishing has been good using them for bait. We have had several days this week of the super slam of reds, trout, flounder, sheeps and black drum. I fish them on the bottom on low tide and on floats on high water. You need a lot of baits this time of the year due to the rays, pinfish, pigfish, croakers and other small fish will also eat the shrimp. This am, we had an inshore slam in less than 30 minutes of reds, trout, and flounder.

Great idea - subscribed! New boat coming in a couple of weeks, will be relying on this thread to help me with distinguishing between the proverbial hole in the ground...
