Just my luck! I had to run up to Goldsboro last Monday and they opened Tuesday! There were a bunch of cars out front but the sign said opening the next day.

Stopped by on the way to the beach this past weekend. Great food as always, but the tea was terrible (almost unsweet) so hopefully they get that straight. Glad they are back open!

While the bbq was decent I donít have much use for tax evasion, assuming that story is accurate

Loved Wilburís in 90s and ate a piles of it. I will definitely support the business again in the unfortunate event I have to leave Carteret County and head west.

Yup, two new owners and Wilburs son in law is running the show. They have Wilbur around for a few months to shake hands but other than that he is out of the business end.

To me Wilbers had gone down hill over recent years more "stuff" in the Q and less on the bun in the sandwich. Flavor was still good though. Hopefully new owners will succeed in these trying times and having a bypass that routes traffic around them instead of by them. Lot of tradition dries up when places are bypassed. Was glad Mackeys Peanuts got ahead of the curve and moved before 64 bypassed them.

more "stuff" in the Q
What does that mean? Some kind of filler like soy, seems unlikely?

As Wilber's financial situation grew, credit became a problem. He was having a hard time sourcing bbq pigs. I understand that he had switched to butts. The new owners will be cooking whole hog and just like Wilber did it with wood. It should be good. Currently it's take-out only with "drive-thru" service in the parking lot. Call ahead to place your order.

Wilber is elderly and was taken advantage of, so yes P/R tax deposits were not made creating the bankruptcy and foreclosure. Wilber himself while ultimately responsible as the owner was not a party to or have knowledge that was happening.

Yes Ken's Grill is very good, I like their BBQ Beef on Thursdays.

EHHH, My office is just around the corner so I went and got in the drive through parking lot line. I had BBQ and my boss got BBQ & Chicken Combo plate. Average fare at best, I hope they can keep improving and make the new venture a success.
