Default storm forecast 7-1

Was planning a quick day trip tomorrow to take advantage of calm seas but weather keeps bouncing around from 60-80% chance of storms. I don't think I want to drive down at 3am only to run into a line of storms. Even if they hold off until mid-day I'm not keen on being 40 miles offshore and having to punch through them.

Wishful thinking but anyone got a good forecast for down that way as far as timing and coverage of the storms tomorrow? Looking like too much to chance right now so probably wait for the weekend and hope for the best.

Try "Windy" , I find they are usually accurate as far as weather forecasting goes. Windy says Beaufort NC will have showers early am until 8, another chance of rain around 2. That being said with Carolina thunderstorms it can be beautiful in Morehead City and raining a flood in Atlantic Beach. Better weather window on Thursday and Friday.

Yeah I know. Normal 30-40% and I’d chance it. Long day to leave at 3am and have to come back the same day.

I'm in Snead's Ferry now, we had a line come thru yesterday around 4:00 and there's one off the horizon now. Last i looked it's around 50% chance all week.

Bigjohnnc, I like the advice of the posters and especially On1hull. If you look at windy (click thunderstorms) for Wednesday I hope you change your mind. I check multiple forecasts and it is easy to be amoured with the light winds. Yet the the forecast calls for thunderstorms with some possibly being severe. If you are on the water and trapped by such a predicament that would be awful. Trust your intuition. I failed to do so on Saturday (see all the posts about how rough and windy it was) and boy was it uncomfortable but fishable (15 miles inshore of the target given such conditions). Yes the conditions may turn out to be good on Wednesday but I would not chance it. Friday and Saturday look much better! I am heading out on Friday. Best to you.

Yep just too much uncertainty for me. If I were already down there I’d look again in the morning but stay within 20 miles.

Looking at Saturday and hopefully Sunday.

I do have a pretty good record of that. I've been down more this spring and summer than I ever have and well, you guys see what's happened.

It's been frustrating seeing the rain forecast change seemingly every update and such variability between models. Windy (checked on Tuesday evening) was calling for lots of rain, some of which on the heavy/stormy side, for Wednesday morning offshore. Woke up this morning and that rain seemed to vanish away!

It was beautiful today, hot but nice, some scattered pop up storms to the south. Found a slinger all by himself in 80' of water under a mylar balloon.

Friday looking good, right?

Also my Fishweather app is broken - crashes upon launch. Anybody else having issues?
