Default Any luck on spanish@ oak or golden?

Plan is to get groceries tomorrow/Tuesday. I know the bigger ones have been thick just across the border. Hoping to find some between cape fear and little river. Have y’all found the same size up this way? Will also be trying clarkspoons new squid spreader bar for the first time.

All the rains of 2 weeks ago pushed them farther off the beach than normal. 30-35' of water.
I think the clearing water this week has brought them closer back in to 25'.

Going to try and find out tomorrow morning.

I caught a few small ones right outside of MBI on Saturday. Birds were working so I just sight casted a spoon and caught 6 or so before I pushed offshore a little ways.

Heading out tomorrow morning out of Lockwood Folly. What channel do you monitor? I can let you know if we get on them. We will most likely be on the Dale McDowell AR and the BCFC AR.

74 usually. We will be in an old sea foam mako. Also heading out of Lockwood. I think our plan will be to just troll south until we find action. I would think the farther south the better the water. I’ll give a shout if we find them. What channel you guys follow?
good luck!

Sunday a week ago, we found them about a mile or 2 east of the Brunswick county fisherman’s reef in 35-36’ of water. They were on top with no birds working and not a lot of bait on the sonar. Caught some decent size ones on the new clarkspoon squid chain. Pink was the color of choice and ran it way back so I could work around the schools and pull it through them. Fished the area again last Friday but couldn’t find anything from 20’ out to 50’. Marked tons of bait but no fish.

I found them yesterday an hour before low tide, once it changed the bite just cut off. I was about 2 miles out in 35'

Tough fishing for us today. 2 small Spanish and 3 good sized ones. The new clarkspoon squid bar accounted for all but one bie. Pretty sure we had a king bust one of the squid rigs and took our spoon. Saw 3 kings jump and just learned that OCP got at least one decent king today. Glass minnows everywhere. We got one fish near ya upon reef. All others came from 9-14 ft close to the beach. Storms sent us to the hill. Not a bad day.

I decided to stay at BCFC AR with the threat of storms. Glad I did. Picked up a couple of Spanish site casting and a nice Fat Albert made for a fun fight. Couple of keeper BSB so enough for dinner. Heading back out Th or Friday. Wife's birthday on Friday though so I will probably stay on the hill. Of course it looks to be the best day of the week. LOL
