The old man looked at the fish constantly to make sure it was true. It was an hour before the first shark hit.

Folks have some great times fishing more than a mile offshore in kayaks. It doesn't seem to be too unusual to hear of someone dying doing offshore kayaking.

I've been doing it for years, never heard of any one dying. The concept seems likely, but reports of it happening seem non existent. We pick our days.
