Default Bigeye

For those of you who have caught bigeye or more specifically target bigeye. How important do you think it is to have horse ballyhoo? When they come up do they hit everything? Or do they only hit the larger baits. Reason I am asking I am think about fishing some smaller tournaments this summer. Wondering if I should just pull a yellowfin spread or a spread more dialed into bigeye

You'll catch them on the same stuff sometimes, like to pull some bigger bird bars etc sometimes to raise them

Tred Bartha who caught a lot of big eye tuna always maintained " Keep your leader out of the water' in other words keep your bait some what tight to your stern'. There is a great article this month in Big Game Journal. , I dont see a specific need for horse ballyhoo , my two cents.

Bigeye do not care what size the ballyhoo are.

Still on my bucket list, but from what I understand when a wolf pack of bigeyes comes up they eat anything

Me and a buddy were wolfpacked once around the 650 out of OI... boated one of 5... 150 pounder... cockpit chaos with two guys hooked up to 700 pounds of muscle on five rods.
the others spooled the lines in what seemed like an instant.... 30's and 50's with witches mostly.

We were pulling a typical yft spread... heard the bite turn on.. moved up the beach a little.. Saw the sounder light up and boom.

Pointrunner beside us boated 5.

Awesome experience.
