Isn't "fresh", fresh, regardless of what it's use for?
In other words, what makes it bait shrimp vs. eatin' shrimp?

Depends on what side of town you are on; west side Captain Jim's and Blue Ocean are reliable, though it was a shame when Blue Ocean moved and got yuppified.

I bought a hundred pounds of what Jimmy called 14-16 count. What I got was 105 Lb of 10-12’s. I weighed em at home.

Just a friendly word of advice though, Jimmy doesn’t think too highly of loud-mouthed know-it-all’s. Tell him what you want, give him the money and he’ll treat you right. And they don’t come any fresher unless you get them outside the inlet.

How do you guys prefer to freeze your shrimp. I know mom used to use old milk cartons back in the day.
Been vacuum sealing all our meats to freeze, so that is an option too.

Vacuum sealing works great. Wouldn't do it any other way.

Not Down East but Miss Gina Fresh Shrimp in Beaufort (well east side of Beaufort). Didn't have any this weekend, but said they were hoping to have something this week.

Freeze them in tap water. When you are thawing them be sure to pour off the water so it doesnt collect in the bottom.

I have gotten from Miss Gina and they have been good quality. Also watch Saltwater Seafood on the waterfront MHC as they have good sales at times. I typically vaccum seal. I head and peel to be sure the bags aren't punctured. Use the heads and peels to make shrimp stock to freeze.

Whats the going rate per pound right now? I got a small scale guy who is charging $7 for 15-17 count when he gets them.
