Default Offshore and Sound fishing Hatteras Island

So, I have invested $55,000.00 in a brand new 21 foot CC, About $1000.00 in reels. rods and gear and come hell or High water (pun intended) I'm going offshore and Sound fishing the last week of April.
I rented an AIRBNB on a canal in Frisco, NC and I am going to trailer my boat and my dog there and most likely put in at Teach's Lair. While avoiding the smart ass comments that I have received prior to this post, Any serious and non condescending advice would be awesome for a first time off shore trip. All serious advice, tips and suggestions are not only welcome but encouraged. Also, if there is anyone who lives in the area and wants to make a few bucks as a guide for a day, I would love to speak with you. For informational purposes It is a 2020 Sportsman 212 Open, I am taking A Diawa BG5000 7 ft strung with 20lb mono and Shimano TD 45 10 ft strung with 30lb mono. And go!

Only way you're getting here is to drive that boat across the sound from the mainland.

I am optimistic the Dare county restriction will be lifted by then.

Stayed at a place on that canal last summer- had a blast. The guys at Marina will give a lot of fishing advice. Use ur charts and depth finder in that sound

If your trip falls thru you still have options. You can put in at little Washington or trailer to Swan Quarter, cross the sound and go out thru Ocracoke. I go thru Ocracoke vs Hatteras inlet because it typically is an easier inlet. There are AR's within 8-10 miles of the inlet. We live on the Pamlico River outside of Aurora and make the trip when mother nature allows us to do so. Enjoy your new boat.

From Swan Quarter to Hatteras is roughly 37 miles and to Ocracoke 28 miles. Hatteras Harbor Marina gives pretty good fishing reports but with the island shut down, reports can be few and far between.
