I have been thinking about going to New Bern to spend a few nights working on the boat as its hauled in a yard with no one around but have been wondering if I would be allowed in if I was pulled over for some reason.

New Bern is in Craven County.

...but with this factoid- https://www.newbernsj.com/news/20200...ronavirus-test

...it's possible that you might get the wrong hotel room.

Just a thought-

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
'Relax' said the night man,
'We are programmed to receive.
You can check out any time you like,
But you can never leave!'

Most banks and restaurants have gone drive thru takeout only in new Bern but no other restrictions.

I would stay on the boat. It’s a cruiser.

I guess I'll need to carry my tax bill with me should I head to Beaufort anytime soon. Hopefully that'd suffice to show I'm a property owner.

Wife and kids left Sunday to go to AB. Figured they could do their online classes as well there as at home. Guess I will remain self quarantined here.

Utilities bill should work for property owners right? My son is already down and we’re supposed to fish Saturday.

So with the word "discourages" does that mean I can still put in at radio island tomorrow and try to find some sea mullet? I guess I could put in at oriental and run over by boat

Man. I was going to start a thread looking for Carteret updates. We spend a lot of money on vacations there every year.

Wishing all the locals good luck and please keep us posted.

Thanks

CARTERET COUNTY, NC (WITN) On Friday Carteret County Government will close all County maintained beach access points.

These include Salter Path, Radio Island and Harkers Island beach accesses.

Thursday night the Town of Emerald Isle closed four public beach parking areas. Parking areas will remain closed through March 31 at The Western Ocean Regional Access (WORA), The Eastern Ocean Regional Access (EORA), Station Street Park, and Third Street Park.

“Following guidance of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention , Gov. Roy Cooper, and local health officials, North Carolinians are asked to implement social distancing,” said Matt Zapp, Town Manager. “Visitors should be aware that travel to the coast is being discouraged at this time.”

Public restrooms remain closed through March 31 as well. Officials will review the situation and make adjustments to the schedule as needed.

Residents should continue to practice social distancing and avoid mass gatherings to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Look the beaches are still open , you just can’t use the county, town or city access or parking. The county is still open , they are just asking people that don’t live there or own property to not come at this time. There is no check points to show paperwork or anything like that at this time.

I'm seeing as many NY and NJ license plates in Wake County that I usually see in the summer. I can't imagine how many are on the coast.

Any one noticed yet that the primary areas where this crap is really increasing are areas that have the larger airports. But airports are still doing business as usual.
